The 3.8 is a dog shite motor that should never be spoken about. I hate every single thing about it including how the oil plug crossthreads just by looking at it.

The boards are full of similar feelings expressed by 3.8 owners. Sad the manufacturer had to leave a great thing behind. The 4.0 is getting a little pricey. XJ owners know they're selling a rare and desirable power plant even if their vehicle body is beyond crappy. Especially if the engine has been cared for properly.

Owned two different models with the 4.0 and loved them both.

Went to the 3.6 minivan before everyone knew it was really trash. The sorry piece of shite engine is in the shop now because it can't stop leaking oil from somewhere. Who knows what they find.

I need a hemi.

So none of y’all homos have said a 5.9 Cummins yet?

If I’m building a classic truck it will be a Chevy with a 350, 327, or a 383 stroker. If I’m building a 3/4 ton from 1995 to 2006 it’s going to have a Cummins.

I’d love to do a 4x4 1/2 ton Chevy with a 5.9 Cummins in it.

Always liked the way Wankel rotary engines worked. Impractical at times due to economy but a great concept.

12 valve 5.9 Cummins diesel with the 24 valve coming in hot.

They (especially the 12 valve) is arguably the most reliable diesel platform ever built for a pickup truck.

They just won't. hardly. die.

7.3 Diesel

I literally can’t choose but the 7.3 is the best diesel motor ever built as far as I’m concerned

Back when its was pounds/cubic inch naturally aspirated pro-stock, it ruled all comers in Bob Gliddens hands for 10 years till they had to go to the 500 ci. rule to break his reign.

Yamaha R1 inline 4, so pipey it feels like an old school 2 stroke. It is gorgeous as well.
