Today (4-13-20) was the first sign of big disruption I’ve seen in food chain

Just left super Walmart suburbs of Nashville. It was bad. Not just toilet paper and sanitizer bad. Empty aisle after aisle, limited choices of what was stocked. Regardless of politics or your stance on social distancing, if disruption like this continues the call will have to be made to open the country, at least more than currently. Pick your poison scenario is around the corner

I’m finding it very difficult to find my condoms. It’s been a rough week

Things seem pretty normal here.

TP and hand sanitizer are still rare, but I'm no longer having to go to multiple stores to find eggs, bread, bacon, etc like I was 2 weeks ago.

It’s like that at every Walmart
It’s not like that at local grocery stores though

Actually it appears the store did not get a delivery on Easter Sunday.

Pretty normal here. Nunu's is more stocked than Albertsons. Costco is full of TP and paper towels.

Check out what happened to the Smithfield plant in SD. Next hoarding will be for pork. 293 employees in the plant have test + so far.

ETA: JUST GOOGLE IT, TARDS

Walmart supply chains rely on China a ton. Not sure if the food is though.

We shop at smaller stores in our neighborhood and haven't experienced shortages (other than TP, but we aren't even shopping for that). My wife picked up enough vegetables and meat for a couple weeks this past weekend.

So it's your anecdotal evidence against his.

Posts like the OP worry me considerably even if my grocery store was well-stocked last week. I'm worried about next week and the week after, and though I'm sure that some of the food supply chain is regional, I don't think that we can draw lines on the map and say that a shortage in Tennessee is meaningless for people in Texas.

The real question is whether there's a real shortage anywhere. If there is, there will be one everywhere, soon.

I've been trying to avoid WalMart at all costs but apparently there are some big runs on everything over the weekends. The past 2 times I've been to any store on a Monday afternoon (including once at WM a couple weeks ago) the inventory on just about everything is extremely low if there is any at all. The lunch meat section was completely wiped out last time I was there. It was surreal seeing a complete wall of nothing but the pushers that pay the packs forward as a package is taken. No bread. No TP except for the 4pack for $1 that just says "Bathroom Tissue" on it.

But I've waited and gone back mid week after work and they have just about everything stocked back up. Those overnight stockers at grocery stores are the real heroes during this.

Drive up and down Nolensville Pike baw. Shrewd shoppers in Nashville know mainstream Nashville avoids ethnic grocery stores like the plague. Or the WuFlu as it were. Kurdish. Ethiopian. Mexican. Asian. Plenty of food options to be had.

It's the day after Easter, and everyone is dining at home. In addition, a lot of store employees may have been off yesterday due to the holiday or illness.

No issues here with food.

Yes.

Plus everyone else in this thread.

I've seen no evidence that there will be a shortage. Its more likely that the disruption was due to Easter than anything else.

Any shortages we have had are 100% caused by people like you worrying for no reason and going out and hoarding supplies.

Went to Nunu’s in Youngsville on Saturday...they are doing a great job of stocking everything.
