Probably factors into my not wanting kids. My parents are amazing people and I have a good relationship with them, but we are NOT a touchy-feeling "i love youuu" type of family. So I never craved that mother-child relationship.

My oldest daughter is the same way. Unless something really weird happens, she will never have kids. Her choice. I sure as hell wouldn't try to force that on her.

My parents are the same. She appreciates you for this, I promise.

My folks may not be lovey-dovey affectionate types, but damn is their respect for me and my decisions the best feeling in the world. I'll take it any day over the snuggly close families.

We're 35 and 40 with no kids.

I love kids but would be ill equipped to explain all of these changes/hardships to them and deal with all of the tough emotions that go along with it. I definitely feel for the parents these days.

Also, I just found several tiny pieces of popcorn that fell into my bra earlier, so it's all for the best.

1) This thread is sad and you should feel bad for posting it.
2) The obvious insecurities in your post speak volumes
3) Found out my 5 and 2 year old boys like jamming out to Metallica at bath time. That was pretty awesome.
4) Coronavirus has never made me regret having kids.
5) Just planned a Disney trip next year. We've brought our 5 year old before, and can't wait to take them both.
6) Just bought a swing/slide set for the kids. The joy they will have playing on that is worth the hours it will take to build.
7) Yes, watching cartoons all day is mind numbing, and yelling at my kids when they don't listen is not fun. It would also be nice if my kids would eat...but again, no amount of yelling or cartoons or eating troubles has ever made me regret having kids.

Sounds like you are just trying to convince yourself of something. I hope that works out for you.

Couldn't imagine being this miserable. This extra time with my 3 year old is awesome.

Her mother and I never married. All I want is for my kids to be happy with what they chose in life. It isn't my way or the highway. I had some of that growing up.

To be fair (since this thread is already going) - This is always an unfair stance to me. Wouldn't we ALL feel this way? Or at least 99% of people

It's just as unfair a stance as the OP I guess.

I'll put it like this. I've lived life without kids and with kids. I prefer life with kids.

I will say this, I was 35 before I decided I wanted kids. Now I wish I had started sooner, but that doesn't mean I should have.

Not wanting kids is no less abnormal/weird than being a homosexual IMO
