With 41% of the deaths in LA linked to diabetes, are they talking “uncontrolled” diabetics as is typical? Or are people like me equally fricked....

I can't quote you average HgA1c levels of the sickest patients.
All I can say is that I have not seen one person under 60 with moderately controlled DM2, otherwise healthy and not obese, per past medical records, that has gone on a vent.
To be safe, follow recs for social distancing. If you get sick, stay home. You don't need a fricking test. If you can't breath, come to ER.

Any stories or ideas on exactly how people are catching this? I’m washing my hands raw and distancing and decontaminating every thing. But how easily is it transmitted?? Is it like I walk into a room and “Bammm” Covidality! Or is it actually touching?

It's a pandemic. Your Uber delivery driver has it. Your grocery store clerk has it. They are young with minimal symptoms.
If someone is coughing, allegedly past 6 feet is the safe zone, but this had many exceptions. And think about all the things you touch, even your pant leg that you then touch within 24 hours.
Stop focusing on you getting it unless elderly, sick, or obese. Keep the elderly quarantined, drop off their groceries, and otherwise relax.

enerally safe but not so much for population prophylaxis like some are talking. If you need to be admitted, get ECG and start it. Hopefully supplies will increase.

Definitely NOT for prophylaxis. And yes, a baseline EKG should be done as well as CBC and LFT's. The biggest problem I see is misinformation or misunderstanding of it. Caution should be stressed and we are seeing doctors with no experience with it prescribing it for some scared titbag with allergies. Or a VIP pt that insist. Many have never written it or know of the QT prolongation which can be exacerbated by Zithromax. Yet people with the disease shouldn't be afraid to take it if high risk or severe symptoms and positive. If someone has cardiac risks, admit them and monitor. The HIV meds plus Tamiflu or ribavirin has shown promise, but the HIV drugs and ribavirin are even less abundant than the plaquenil and much more expensive. Just FYI, gov't has been buying up plaquenil for over 2 years per our pharmacy wholesaler. Tried to get the wife to stock up three months ago when this thing first really started getting press. Could only get a little more than our usual monthly order. Haven't had any problems getting for our regulars since we'd built up a buffer.

1. Do you have an opinion regarding whether this virus warrants wrecking the economy, businesses, careers, and savings and deferring other medical care, and if so, what is that opinion?

I don't.
It has not affected me personally yet. That being said, history will either describe this as an over-reaction or an under-reaction.
I can't speak for those who have lost income or jobs, but I know that in lots of places people are dying because of the spike. This virus spreads many times faster than the flu, so even if only 4-6 times as deadly, it can exhaust medical resources rapidly. It already has in NOLA.
The sanctions we are currently undergoing are saving lives, for whatever its worth.

Exactly, ultimately this is your job and you are getting paid well to do it. And assuming you aren't in the at risk demographic, your risk of harm from working in that environment is minimal.

I'm a physician and seeing healthcare workers constantly seeking out pats on the back recently makes me uncomfortable.
