You really want to see another playoff loss?

I've never understood how people don't get that this was probably true until Pitt upset West Virginia later that night, throwing a wrench into everything. That opened the door for LSU to be preparing for a national championship game instead of the Sugar Bowl.
Herbstreit said this the Morning of Dec 1. The SEC Championship game that day was BEFORE Pitt beat WVA. No wonder you never understood.

It's Kirk Herbstreit's job to report news.
If Miles didn't want to get so pissed, he should have made sure the leak was sealed until after the LSU game.

This does not end when people stop getting sick.
This ends when healthy people realize they won't die and sick people begin to quarantine themselves. I hope this happens in April or May.
America needs football
in 2020.

CORRECT
Sometimes I just wonder what the hell people think before they post here.

That is a great first memory for a sports fan if you rooted for A&M at the time. Big 12 conference championship games were so wild at times. I forgot Dat Nguyen was on that team. I thought he played about five years later than that. Time flies.

Les Miles had his press conference before that game even started. Then after the LSU/Tennessee game, once again before Pitt/WVU, he said there was zero wiggle room and he would remain the LSU head coach.
Maybe WVU losing gave Michigan their next target but I don't think it had anything to do with Les deciding his fate.

I agree with VA Dawg on that point. The fans on here naturally seem to think the story was rubbish and Les was this super loyal guy. But, I think getting to the national championship game changed everything. The only reason I don't necessarily believe Herbstreit completely on that is there was apparently a faction at Michigan fighting against Les for head coach. So, it may not have been as close to a done deal as he reported.

Play the games with no fans. Tv money is king. Kids are at an extremely low risk of having a serious condition. Social distancing cannot practically last at this level for more than another month.
I know practice and recruiting is an issue but at some point life will have to go on

I predict a shortened season for CFB and NFL, beginning in late September. 14 reg. season games for NFL, 9 or 10 for CFB.

The thing that would really screw that up for college football is if some conference have games in the first few weeks. Otherwise, they could pull off a shortened season.

If so, Myles Brennan is gonna be like "WTF" ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconbanghead.gif)

That would suck.
Especially for my buddy who said “why couldn’t this have happened in the fall when at least we could watch football?”![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

I've had the Michigan at Washington game on my radar screen for years as one I really wanted to attend. I feel like it's 50/50 at this point, maybe worse because of the situation in Washington.

Except they hadn't made the championship game yet when Les Miles had already on multiple occasions said he wasn't going to Michigan. Neither WVU/Pitt or OU/Mizzou had been played when Miles made his pregame statement and also doubled down in the postgame.
Now Rich Rod losing that game definitely set things in motion for HIM to go to Michigan. But Les Miles was off the table before that game was even underway. Idk what else to tell you.

It'll be close. Hoping it is over by July.
Football is one thing, but there is a bigger problem which is that higher ed is in fricking trouble if they can't resume business as usual in the Fall. Can you imagine an entire freshman class that doesn't show up on campus? People are going to opt out. Budgets will be slashed. Institutions will close. The bubble will burst. Football will be collateral damage.

It's time for colleges to move to online. Think of the cost savings to taxpayers. Just figure out how to do athletic programs.

The only thing that concerns me about college football is how liberal some is these schools and college presidents are. It wouldn’t shock me at all to see Cal, for instance, say we aren’t playing this year. Or the PAC 12 as a whole for that matter.
