So basically all the kids are getting free passes to the next grade, well a lot of them will struggle because they've only received a quarter of the lessons this year.

Right?

Eh, not really. Testing was starting in a couple weeks, so public schools had already taught most of their lessons. I know my wife had one more unit to teach, so not a huge loss.

August to March instead of August to May equals "a quarter"??

You must have missed multiple years of school...

Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

They (and the parents/guardians) should get on this issue rat now.

Not the ones who have parents that actually care. My kid is doing 4 hours of schoolwork per day. We are including the lessons supplied by the teacher and also some outside sources for learning to prepare him for the next grade.

My kid is gonna crush it next year. We are using this opportunity to expand her understanding, not messing around.

I'm thinking from like 6th grade to the maybe 10th grade will be the most affected.

Teacher friends are already saying a plan is being put in place to spend the first month or two of the next year covering what they are missing this year. I think it'll work out.

Public schools were teaching their last units or already reviewing for standardized testing which would have started this week. Schools in Louisiana were starting their 3rd quarter and most students are still getting some instruction.

Exactly. It's not like they're going to go into next year like nothing happened. They know the first 1-2 months will be remedial work, then they'll have to go hyper speed to get the full year in after.
