I don't think it works well but we've done this twice already since I was in the workforce.

It has been done before in times of crisis. If there were ever a time for a wealthy nation to help its citizens it is now.

Well, it won't be ALL Americans, Darrell...

As a matter of fact, if the last iteration of the bill I saw passes, it would only go to those that make under $75k individually, or $150k as a couple.

Not for my family.
Wife and I earn too much.
Honestly, feel like a second class citizen.

Yang Gang did it first. I figured TD would love it when Trump spun it as his own though.

$1200 cash payments direct to Americans
$300B in loans to businesses to continue payroll set to be forgiven
Expansion of unemployment insurance described as "Unemployment insurance on steroids" call employment insurance with the huge caveat that NOBODY has been paying premiums for this "Insurance"

Republicans: NOPE, not socialism
Democrats: Orange man bad

It's shocking to me that more people don't seem to have any money saved in case of a rough patch. A several week long layoff is going to bankrupt the average person?

I understand if you lose a job long term but a short term layoff should not lead to absolute financial ruin.
