Good idea or bad idea. Ordering sod, only 1,500 sq ft. Don't mind high maintenance but want something soft under foot that can survive in this climate.
I'm in Thibodaux.

I really like zoysia ( I live on the Northshore). I’m not sure how the varieties of zoysia differ. It has been indestructible for me. It needs to be thatched after winter though.

I have it in BR and love it.

I have it in the Monroe area and love it. I did my front yard which was only about 2,500 sq ft. Eventually want to to everything since it makes centipede look like trash.

I have empire. I have a somewhat shady spot that I put Palisades in yesterday where the empire wasn't doing well.

Tore out Centipede last year and put down Zoysia Palisades in BR. It is awesome. Just now (as of this week) starting to come out of dormancy. Zero weeds. Thick and looks great.

I have had it for about two years. Only complaint is that it produces more clippings than you can believe in the middle of summer. I mowed the grass once a week and had a full garbage bag each time.

thanks for feedback. Just tilled up my whole yard, ready for the shipment in the few days. Will update the thread with pics.

I have Empire variety in Covington. Love it. But I have a few shady areas where its not taking. Maybe Palisades is an answer.

From the pictures that I have seen, this type of Zoysia looks like Centipede grass to me? So, if you have a healthy Centipede yard...what's the advantage of taking it out and putting in Palisades Zoysia?

Warning! it's not soft under foot, nothing like Bermuda. I used it to sod my house due to the low sunlight requirement. I like the color, fights off weeds, stands up well to dog urine (salt), but not soft.

Well this opposite to pretty much everything I've read/seen on it. I know it won't be better Bermuda or empire zoysia, but I'm comparing it to centipede or st aug.

Maybe you didn’t get Zoysia smart guy.

Lol, ok bud. Bought it and installed but maybe it’s a Woerner turf conspiracy.

Right and wrong. I have palisade zoysia. I keep it cut at 3/4” and it’s very nice on the feet. But it grows very vertical and when it needs cut or gets longer it can poke. I find where it gets shade it doesn’t grow very well. It makes it but it’s thin and doesn’t look as good as st Augustine
