I can see it with a wombocombo of measles infectiousness and Ebola mortality. But not this kungflu shite.
Honestly my college friends have asked me and our other doctor friend how scared they should be. And to be honest I can't really give a justifiable real answer.
Is it a possibly deadly disease? Yes. Are there other much more deadlier diseases out there? Of course. I had swine flu in 2010 and wanted to die so badly it was awful.
I think the fact it is a NEW illness has a lot to do with it. It's new, it's scary, nobody has dealt with it before.... so people think it is something to dread over. It is not a death sentence, but it is contagious like the flu.
The ebola outbreak a few years prior was MUCH more concerning.
Coronavirus is like influenza's cousin that nobody was expecting to visit
All the measures that have been put in place so far are just to stem the rising trend in total number of infected. Not to say that if you're infected you will die, far from it... but the less infected the less untimely deaths we will have. And isn't that a goal we should strive for? Isn't that a goal we as a country can come together and agree on? I think so.
