Krewe President Dan Kelly announced that due to the temporary order banning tandem floats, there is no way they can reschedule the parade that was canceled after float 13.

"The Kerns don't have enough tractors to go around," Kelly explained, "There is no way that we would be able to do it."

Just about all of Endymion's floats are tandem floats. I am on the Pontchartrain Beach float, the biggest in Mardi Gras when it is hooked up the way it is supposed to be. It has 7 main sections, nine total if you count the front and the caboose. Can you imagine how ridiculous that would look going down the street pulled by 9 different tractors? The problem is not with the tandem floats. Someone needs to educate the city administration and get this resolved before next year.......... Edit: Endymion just called for the city to form a task force to explore ways to improve safety at parades. This is a wonderful idea. I am all for improving safety for everyone, especially the crowds who are the real stars of the Endymion parade. Hopefully such a task force will be formed and will be comprised of people who know their arse from a hole in the ground about Mardi Gras.

My thoughts as well. Let's be honest, the woman who died at Nyx was a dumbass and the guy at Endymion was a freak accident. He slipped on beads (as far as I've read). So what, is the city going to ban throwing beads now?

Cantrell, yet again, proves she's an idiot of the highest order.

This- this is a good example of someone who has no business running a freaking township let alone the largest city in the state. JBE needs to sit her the frick down.

It makes sense to me that having one tractor operator per float would decrease the likelihood of someone getting rolled over.

Not saying I support this weird knee-jerk ban, but the overall physics of the issue is pretty easy to grasp.

What’s the obsession with tandems? One float per tractor. Not hard

Is there a float limit? Tandems might count as one.

The cops would shut it down before it could roll.

There is an ordinance in place limiting the number of floats. The tandems are a result of the ordinance.

According to city ordinance parades must have at least 14 and no more than 45 "pull units," or floats. Tandems are considered as one pull unit. If you separate tandems, you violate. These huge krewes could not carry their entire membership on 45 individual floats.

That's one reason ....

Then it created a whole new design category and dick measuring contest between the Krewes
