Maybe they should get the trucks where you can see through the trailers

In places like Houma, they had to switch to trucks because once they built the twin bridges over the intracoastal the floats could no longer be pulled by tractors and trucks were used to replace tractors.

None of the Houma parades cross the Intracoastal.

Also, I guess tractors would have some safety factor as they are speed limited. I high doubt a tractor has the ability to go too fast

This is a non factor, we dont pull more than 10 mph but only when no riders are on board.

The parade speed is 2ish mph 3 max.

Also, I know a lot of floats from New Orleans are rented in other areas and have to be pulled by truck since they are transported on the interstate. I would hate to see a caravan of floats being pulled by tractor on the interstate

Floats are moved on the interstate with tractors all the time, no doff than with trucks, you cant pull a float at 25 mph. It would fall apart.

We do cross the twin span by terrebonne general to get to and from the east side houma parade route, but it has nothing to do with why we use trucks now vs tractors.

Personally I appreciate the trucks because we have heat and ac and are out of the rain.

There were very very few tractors with a cab on them, although tractors have their advantages such as shorter turn radius and less blind spots around it.

Endymion has a lot a big power players on the floats. No way this rule last to next year and it shouldn't. Floats don't hit people, people hit floats.

I don't think it will regardless.

I think it's just a feel good move being pushed by the admin in NOLA

That sucks. I was really impressed with how Kern/Bacchus was able to get us set up so quickly. We all had a tractor and a generator on each float. I think I heard something like 120 total floats.

Went to Bacchus last night and it sucked. The whole tractor for each part of the float is horrible. Watched the one with the alligator roll by, I think it was four parts, we were like wait up I think the tail is coming about 200 yards behind. Also, for some reason the parade just stalled for about 45 minutes in one spot. Don't even get me started on all the dam high school bands. Way too many.

The city mandates a minimum required number of marching units based on the number of floats.

Sucks for you. It was the best ride I've had, and a lot of guys were saying similar things.

Each tandem float road close to each other and stopped together so I don't know what you're talking about with bacchagator. The stall was more like 20 minutes too, not 45.

Well, to me Thoth was a whole lot better than Bacchus. They threw so much we I had to go to the car and dump all our bags. Bacchus didn't come close to the amount that Thoth threw.

Why would you hate the bands? This is how they make money. I love hearing them

Agreed. Parades are about music and celebrating, not catching worthless plastic trash from floats.

Yep, fastest you can pull them on the Interstate is 15-18 mph.

Because it's more important to catch ten cent plastic trinkets than listen to music and watch kids have a good time. Duh!

I was there for Bacchus and thought it was great. Wished the big tandems could’ve been put together, but oh well. Did get a pretty cool Clint Eastwood lighted flyer thing. They had some pretty good throws. Thank you to all the riders.
