Why do blue laws still exist?

I really don’t understand how blue laws still exist. Despite the obvious illegality behind them with the separation of church and state, why in the world can’t you buy liquor on Sunday.
I used to live in GA and I was in line with my wife and kids at Costco at 12:25 and because we had some wine, we had to step out of line and wait 5 minutes to buy the wine. We were stocking up for the month and had no plans to drink any in the next 5 minutes let alone 5 hours.
It makes absolutely no sense to me why these laws even exist in today’s society. States are passing bills at a 70% majority vote to repeal some of these things like allowing alcohol sales on Sunday so why don’t they get rid of these archaic laws.

fricking Bible Belt laws

I agree that the laws are dumb but I literally have never had to deal with this because I have the ability to plan ahead.

Because people can’t help but legislate their own morality on everyone else.
And it’s not always religious. MADD was created here in Kentucky after the Carrollton bus crash . A huge knee jerk reaction was to campaign to make half of the state dry.

Because boomers.

Because hypocritical “small government conservatives” exist.

Not illegal at all actually. This has been ruled on by the USSC. Take some time off from drinking, it's good for you.

Let not the wine floweth or the smoke bloweth lest ye are between the hours of 1300 and 0200, unless thy seeketh on a Sunday.

I don't agree with blue laws either, but this is just an incorrect statement.

I don’t agree with them, but I also think the people in the area have the right to establish what laws in their community they so wish. Their values may not line up with mine, but it’s also not my community.

I hope you didn't go into DTs.
Seriously, is this all you find to bitch about? Then life ain't too bad, is it?

Baptists.
Next question.

Baptists and evangelicals. Great thing Seven Day Adventist don't have more power, they're the worst. Couldn't believe anyone supported Ben Carson.

It's also still illegal to masturbate, have sex outside of marriage, use sex toys, or have butt sex in some states.

It's persecution by a religion.
There are folks out there who are delusional enough to think that it is tough to be a christian in the United states.

I remember as a kid how vast the scope of Blue Laws reached. Back then, you couldn't buy hardware, ammo or any sporting goods, certain non-food items at grocery stores, retailers no associated with the food industry were closed, so no clothing stores, shoe stores, etc. were open.
It was pretty much go to church, buy some groceries and go home.
