Some fun stats on Boy Scouts

In light of the crap that’s been coming out, I felt like throwing out some positives:
58% of West Point grads were Scouts
64% of Air Force Academy grads were Scouts
70% of Annapolis grads were Scouts
71% of football team captains were Scouts
85% of student council presidents were Scouts
133/233 astronauts were Scouts
The organization has some serious damage control they’re handling, but the organization is predominantly one that has had a profoundly positive effect on millions.

Not sure if this is the hill I'd want to die on
My BIL is an eagle scout, and he pulled my nephew out for the dumb crap they are doing.

Those same people probably did 5 or 6 of the other same things that high character, high achievers did. No disrespect to the scouts, but the best people do all the good things.

I’ve never met an Eagle Scout that wasn’t a douche rocket

Not all counsels/districts/troops are created equal.
Ours are fantastic. But, your BIL obviously had his reasons.
See, I fully expect dogpiling by folks (not you) who are completely ignorant to BSA and following the media circus.

Those numbers seem high compared to those posted on the fact sheet on the Scouts website.

36.4 percent of the United States Military Academy (West Point) cadets were involved in Scouting as youth.
22.5 percent of United States Air Force Academy cadets were involved in Scouting as youth.
25 percent of United States Naval Academy (Annapolis) midshipmen were involved in Scouting as youth.

If every Eagle Scout you ever met was a douche rocket then either you have not met enough Eagle Scouts or you are the real douche rocket. Just math.

And then they let the pedos become scout leaders. Much like the Catholic church, I'll bet they powers that be covered shite up and looked the other way. I am a former scout but fortunately never encountered any abuse. I did, however, receive a call last year from a woman with the Innocence Project concerning a guy serving a life sentence for murder who alleged sexual abuse at the hands of a leader I once had.

one that has had
Key is past tense. Today's scouting organization is not the same one that produced so many high quality young men of years gone by.
I have sons spanning a lot of years - the oldest is nearing 30 and the youngest is 8. I was all in on having the boys be scouts when the oldest was younger, but saw the shifting away from true scouting values. I didn't even have my youngest two boys in cub scouts.
There are better organizations out there today that teach the values scouting used to teach.

Oh I am for sure a douche rocket

Yeah. Just saw that.
Apparently, another pole site has come out with “updated” stats......hmmmmmm
While the stats you posted are commendable, they are way short of what I posted. I’m digging around now.
I’m sensing propaganda by a 3rd party as part of the aforementioned damage control.
Ugh

You know I like to goof around and shite but what's going with the scouts and how they're getting fricked over really is no laughing matter. I'm no frickin' boy scout, not by a far sight but I can see the immense social and cultural value in this.
With this bullshite diddling scandal. bullshite the scouts didn't frickin' create, this organization might go under. I mean do they have any assets other than donated monies and land?
This isn't the catholic church we're talking about here. An organization that has vast wealth. This is the frickin' boyscouts. They survive on volunteerism, donations and fricking caramel corn.
You can't read minds when it comes to diddling pedophiles and shite. At what point do you simply trust the world around you? And instead of holding organizations accountable for personal behavior, you hold fricking individuals accountable. And if those individuals are dead and gone and can't be held accountable. Well then tough frickin' shite.
Yes, that was a melt.

Seriously, what organizations?
And, Scouting in the Houston metro is far stronger than in LA as far as membership and support.
