Pressured the crew so much that they feel they need to have the cleanest ride for parades and reiterated to crew.

Told them they didn’t have the manpower, so crew paid JPSO $50k to fill gap.

Now she is running streetcars up until 2-4 hours before parade on both sides. Why doesn’t she do this on St Charles.

Plus, nothing between tracks and street, so everyone is jammed in dead center with no way to have a fun family day.

I hope the entirety of her avid supporters, donators, and campaigners including all of the Mid-City and uptown old money is proud of their investment.

The hard rock hotel and her Mardi Gras regulations are awesome. And let’s not forget her brilliant moves at SWB and of course her stance on crime and prosecution of criminals. City Hall is running so efficiently especially their permitting departments.

Brilliant wonderful mayor she has been. We’ve been begging for massive taxes and reforms of Mardi Gras Krewes. Everyone knows the one thing missing from Mardi Gras was massive city corruption and regulations.

God Bless LaToya. God Bless New Orleans. The pinnacle of competent leadership and economic development in the south.

Haven’t heard this. What’s the background? Has she already asked them to move the route? They are opposed, I assume.

The knowledge she gained on all of her fact finding trips is finally starting to take shape.
I wonder where her next fact finding trip will be?

I don't know why you would expect anything else. If the majority of the krewe members lived in Orleans Parish you might be able to affect policy.

That’s what happens when you elect a racist community organizer from Compton.

She’s doing all this as a big frick YOU to the media, city council and everyone that has criticized her in the past few weeks and months.

She’s a fricking little count arse bitch

Not making excuses, but this is more NOPD than it is Cantrell. NOPD has been tryi g to standardize the routes for 30 years. Used to have parades in the East and in the Lakefront area. Mid City and Ponchartrain used to go the Mid City route as did a few midweek. Now only Endymion does it.

Having the route standardized makes crowd control easier. Endymion poses a problem because it is so long it needs to stretch out on Canal Street.

She could strangle someone to death on camera and she's still a shoe in for reelection.

Latoya is a horrible, horrible person but this isn’t really on her. It’s asking a lot of the city to juggle parades throughout the city when resources are stretched on a normal day.

I wouldn’t want Enymion to change (loved when I lived on Orleans) but I can see how it would help the city out if it did happen.

Do the street cars not run 2-4 hours before parades on St Charles??

Ummm... they are running on St. Charles. Now, we can argue if that's a good idea or not, but it's the same as Canal / Carrollton.

Here's the deal. NOPD doesn't have the manpower to staff two major routes on the same day. Even with the 12 hour shifts. City resources are stretched thin.

The seeds for this were planted when Mitch decided to cut the budget to get it in balance, and laid off a bunch of people, and didn't invest in new NOPD recruit classes for a few years.

Back when the city had 1800 cops it was no big deal.

Endymion, if they want to continue to be different, is going to have to pony up the cash to be different.

So there’s a police cost issue? This is the ONLY reason given, so why blame the mayor for this?

Imagine if the Essence Fest wanted to have a parade that would cost the NOPD $50K. Everyone on here would bitch and would applaud the mayor if she told them no.

I’m no fan of the mayor, but this thread is useless.

All true. She’s going to do everything in her power to move it next year after she failed this year thanks to the leaders of the Krewe.

Lot of members at the meeting got the feeling that even if we did everything with the new changes perfectly that the city told us this year, she was going to amp up the pressure to get her way next year at any cost.
