NOLA picking up tents and tarps on Napoleon if unattended. They said a second crew is coming about 2 hours after them. No argument leaving stuff alone if someone claims it as they pass.

Lord this city is freaking nuts.

You have mostly families that live up and down the route that set up spots for their kids.

This is one of the few times a year wherein Living in the city is beneficial.

The other 50.5 weeks it is a terrible place to live: crime ridden, highly taxed, corrupt, has a crumbling infrastructure. Yet in their infinite wisdom, the city shits on the only people left that actually fund the place.

Then again the flip side to the shitting on by the city towards these people is that these people continue to live in such a place despite the the constant shitting on and problems listed above.

What does it take to get a trash krewe to pick up any other week of the year?

I get the 4 hour rule. Unless it is blocking a trolley then let it go.

Yes, last night there were some blocking the tracks.

The same people who do this are the people who put their stuff out on the beach early in the morning then don’t show up until 1 pm and act all indignant that it got moved a little to the second row.

Here is my long-standing belief on this situation.

If you are out there with your stuff, no one should mess with you. You probably don't need as much space as you claim, but whatever.

If you put your stuff out there, but aren't with it, then you have abandoned your property. Abandoned property can be disposed of or relocated by anyone, because it's abandoned.

To me, this is no different than when a line forms hours in advance for concert tickets or black friday deals or whatever. Can you just go stick 6 chairs in line and claim that holds your spot in line, and show up an hour before the sale begins? No, you cannot. This is no different.

The current administration is doing everything they can to take the fun out of Mardi Gras. They tried everything they could to prevent Endymion from parading on the Mid City route. They enacted restrictions on throws that will be impossible to enforce. I wonder how many of the decision makers are actually from here. It seems as though they have never been to a Mardi Gras parade.
