None, Zero, Nada, Zilch.

Have a family and a “celebrity” dying is pure trivia in my book. I might like something they did, a movie, a song, or the way they played a sport. But cry for someone I don’t personally know very well?? LOL.

We got some soft as Charmin toilet paper people in this country.

I didn't cry, but two deaths bothered me. I was young for both and thought the world of these 2 guys: Hank Gathers and Len Bias

This. I'm not close to any of those people or know them on a personal level.

Some really surprised me and I guess the first was when George Reeves, the original "Superman" from the old TV series died from what was reported as a self-inflicted gunshot wound. I was just a little kid and I wondered "How could Superman die from a bullet?"

As an adult, I would say Robin Williams suicide took me by surprise since I, and many others, didn't see that one coming.

But cry, nah, those are people I just know about, but not on a personal level.

And you wonder why the snowflake stereotype exists??

If the death of an athlete they never met destroyed them they deserve to be destroyed.

I'll probably cry when John Prine dies, though.

Same...probably Kris Kristofferson, too.

ETA...after some thinking, I believe I did cry a little as a kid when I heard John Wayne died.

When they said that, did you tell them to save the drama for their mama? Manufacturing drama is sometimes just a cry for help by a sick individual.

Can you post the names of the buffoons that said this so that we can Twitter shame them and call their bosses?

I was pretty bummed when Andre the Giant died; he was one of my childhood heroes.

Only one, Pistol Pete Maravich. Way before his time, but doing what he loved.

A worldwide treasure and it's hard to find a person as genuinely good and kind as this guy was. If the world was filled with more people like him, it would be an infinitely better place.

I did not cry when Payne Stewart died, but I did tear up reading "Payne", the book written after his death.

i've never gotten close to crying over a celebrity's death, but to the OP point, the circumstances surrounding Kobe's passing is probably the most tragic of them all. As a father to 2 little girls, Kobe dying with his daughter hits me just a wee bit harder than something like a musician OD'ing.

The only two other celebs where i was a little saddened were James Gandolfini and Steve Irwin.

I didn't cry but I was sad when heard about John Candy and John Hughes. Part of my childhood was taken away.
