That's putting it nicely. I just got a qoute for 4 ton Trane 5 ton evap coil 17 Seer, complete new unit for $8,200.
Comes with the diagnostic thermostat as well. My installed two units for us. One at old house, replaced our 3 ton upstairs last May and replacing 4 ton downstairs in a month.

I should add that there are some weird circumstances to my system. They have to totally remove a set of attic stairs and reinstall them in order to get the heater into the attic. Also rebuild a drain line. No duct work.

You need to get more estimates. Moreau's was the cheapest in the Mandeville area when I had my upstairs air replaced. There was significant variance to the estimates too.

Ruud is so overpriced for their quality. Trane is tops by a wide margin. I would rather have a Goodman than Ruud. A Goodman is a solid unit for 5 years then after that will start having issues. Ruud has some issues and lawsuits. Obviously not as many as Lennox.
