2nd to last drive against Bama

I watched it again last night. Truly a thing of beauty:
--Joe Burrow took the play clock down to almost 0 on almost every snap. I know that sounds simple, but given LSU's history on stuff like this, it almost made me tear up
--The 1st Down play was the fake QB draw where Joe Burrow pulled up at the LoS and hit Chase over the middle for ultimately a 35 yard gain. It might be the single best play call from the sidelines ever. I was there in person - and you can still feel it on TV - it REALLY deflated the home crowd, as it put LSU almost in FG range immediately
--The famous 3rd down "Heisman moment". On this one, Joe Burrow must have seen something he liked, because he snapped the ball with over 20 seconds left on the play clock. Fake handoff right, and then cut around the left side for a MASSIVE gain up the middle. It could not have been more situationally aware or better executed.
--Clyde TD run - somehow makes it in the endzone and then casually, perfectly flips the ball no-look to the ref and gives some skin to a random LSU guy right there on the sideline.
I know, I know, the 85 yard bomb on the 1st play of the following Bama drive. But still - to answer back with this drive after the Bama TD was arguably the defining moment of the season (and right on the heals of the preceding LSU drive that was itself the defining moment of the season just 10 minutes before
)

This drive and the Texas drive easily the two most important drives of the year. Texas drive set the tone for the rest of the season and the Alabama drive got us over that hump we had been struggling with for 8 years.

That was an awesome play. Joe actually said a couple days later that the play was run often this year, the WR just was never open for it. Went back and watched some QB draws this year and you could tell he would look for a second.

Love that play. It catches the officials off-guard and leaves the opponent whining about our lineman being 15 yards downfield.

Crazy thing is that's probably as close to a "trick play" that we ran the entire season. We just lined up and ran our offense and slaughtered everyone.

My favorite play of the season. Ok maybe a tie for #1 with Burrow to Jefferson on 3rd and 17 in Austin.

The Bama lineman’s PF after the interception right before half was huge. Went from a FG drive to a one play TD drive. That 4 point difference proved large

That TD pass time CEH right before half was one of my favorite plays of the season.
Well designed and well executed.

We won by 5 so... either way I think we just relaxed late because we dominated that game. A lot of their yardage total came on a few big plays. Mainly the two long td's to Smith on Stingley. Both on coaches imo

As great as that drive was, the previous drive on 3rd and long that CEH willed himself to a first down. Burrow is getting crushed as he releases it. CEH makes a great fingertip catch.
It was one of those most incredible plays of the season.

Certainly, CEH was a beast that day.
He had a great game.

I don’t care what anyone says, that Bama team with Tua was the 2nd best team in the country last year.

A couple things about that drive and the TD to Smith afterwards. What did Burrow/Ensminger see to make that designed QB draw call on 3rd and why was Stingley playing bump and run on Smith with no help over the top?

Yeah it's debatable between them and Clemson.
But I'd give the edge to Bama.
I also think Bama was the 4th best team heading into the playoffs, although they weren't gonna get in. It's why the CFP dropped them all the way to 14th after the loss to Auburn. That was rather stupid on their part, but they wanted to make sure their was no controversy after that last Saturday.

I read stuff like this and still get chills up my spine.
This was the most awesome college football season for any team in the history of the sport, and it happened to my team, and I got to see it happen.

What made this call so great is that almost any coach would have the tendency to try to protect the lead - run clock and count on the defense. That fake draw was what the Bama linebackers and safeties expected to see. They bit like a hungry redfish on a rubber shrimp.
The other thing that made it great was that once the trap was sprung, it was executed by our two best players - a Heisman, and a Bilitnikoff, winner.
I was there, too. It was glorious! I’ll never forget the experience of walking around the concession area with Bama fans in shock and gleeful LSU fans shooting surreptitious glances at one another.
