It never ceases to amaze me how fricking slow people are.
I was behind a couple in their 30’s at a breakfast buffet the other morning and I swear it took these fricks 5 minutes to fix them each a plate of eggs, sausages and biscuits and gravy. I nearly lost my shite because I was kinda in a hurry. I wanted to punch them both in the back of their fricking heads. It literally took me 15 seconds to fix my plate after they were finally done.

Watching the lazy arse TSA people play grab arse while the line is stacked up. How many fricking breaks a day to they get? They have no incentive to do anything at a pace.

Airports, easily. I hate them.
Being away from home for any length of time sucks tremendously. I have lots of projects going on at the house all the time

It loses it's appeal to me after the first few days. I like leaving home and going to a new place but start missing family members after the first 3 days or so.

quote:I’ve had these dumb fricks cut me in line waiting to order food at the airport. I mistakenly left enough space between me and the person in front of me, and this dumbfrick Chinese guy just gets right in front of me in line. I tapped him on the shoulder and said, “Get to the back of the queue,” and pointed behind me. He looked at me like I was crazy.
This is chalked up to concept of personal space and self awareness. Asians, specifically Chinese people, have very little self awareness or respect for the personal space of others....especially Chinese tourists and people that are new here.

My wife retired 5 years ago. The year before she retired I was traveling at least once a month. So we talked about how much she could now go with me on my travels.
Toward the end of that year, our CEO lost a lot of money on bad projects, and we cut out almost all travel. I now travel 2-3 times a year, and it's never worked out for my wife to go with me.

If you think living out of a suitcase, eating dinner out a minimum of 3 to 4 nights a week and being in a different rental sounds like fun, 150 + days a year, go for it. Some companies, of course, may require less or more.
But for me, after doing this for many years, the luster wears off and finding a balance between personal and work life has been challenging.
However, the pay ... the pay keeps me going. I am a slave to the dollar. And that’s not always a good thing.

I eat out more than that when I’m home

I basically hate everything about being herded through airports. From parking, to checking in, to TSA to boarding. The whole process kinda just sucks.
I’m a home body also, so being away from the wife and kids isn’t enjoyable. I’m never gone for longer than a week, but I’m usually ready to head home after day two.
I know you military baws are judging me right now

I don’t travel as much anymore but used to be on the road 80% plus of the time.
I got really, really tired of eating out and drinking at hotel bars. Those were my two biggest issues.

I am constantly amazed by the number of people who have to use the airplane bathroom on flight an hour or less. It's like there is a broken ATM in the john spitting out money or something. Sit down and hold it you are not a 5 year old.

for about 15 years, I traveled internationally about 80% of the time
airplanes were good for sleeping
I protected my traveling work papers as much as my spare set of clothes
most good restaurants will seat one customer at the worst table and assume you want to eat fast, and you have nothing else to do for the evening
traveling with underlings you have to be careful about over communicating
traveling with the boss you have to be careful about under communicating
foods a drug, weight is an issue
booze is a drug, sobriety is important
kids grow up without you

One more.
When I was home I never wanted to go anywhere so vacations were always an issue. Had a ton of miles and Hotel points but leaving home in that 20% window sucked but the rest of the fam wanted to see something.

I've never really traveled much for work, maybe a week or two a year (less than that now because online Skype meetings have become ubiquitous). When I have, I've always enjoyed myself. So much so that I've been leaning towards finding an international travel gig once my youngest graduates HS in a few years. My wife is an RN and has also talked about doing international contracting gigs for a few months at a time.
Reading some of these replies make me wonder how much we'd both hate going the travel route.
