Sounds like she’d love a wagon then.

Good luck with that. I still have a 2002 Accord 2 door and whatever their highest trim level is that I like to drive around when I don't need a truck. It is black and started having paint fading on most of the body. It had been washed and waxed regularly. I have seen so many over the years that are the same way, all '02-'04, and Honda has never owned up to the paint issue.
Oh, 220k+ and still doing fine with little issues. It just isn't pretty to look at.

Also, I noticed a year or so ago that the paint right above the windshield started peeling in two spots. Then started noticing other pilots around town in the same color & age with similar issues. So, I googled it and there are a ton of people with the issue, but Honda won't issue a recall. Examples below. I'd be hesitant to buy another Honda if they don't stand behind their product.
Well, isn't that interesting? We had a 2008 Odyssey, white, had the same issue.......when we pulled up the tape from the Safelite guy who replaced the windshield after a tree branch fell and cracked it. The tape pulled the paint off! Got to reading and found that this issue goes back to early 2000's models and seems to apply mainly to white, silver and dark metallic blue colors. The fact you're encountering it on a 2013 is highly suspect and would make me steer very clear of another Honda for the foreseeable future.

Palisade or Telluride
Ive test driven them - awesome vehicles. Just can't find them for much under sticker price

If you can swing it, go check Volvo. Do that first, then be depressed at everything else you’ll look.

I'm a 4Runner devotee but in this situation I'd recommend a Highlander.

Just got my wife the Subaru Forester, but looked at the Ascent in your size range and it was very nice.

Bought my wife a new Audi Q7 on labor day.
That car drives really well. Driving it on a long trip is so easy with the driver's assistance and adaptive cruise. You basically just need to hold onto the wheel and it does the rest.

Highlander
Good family vehicle. Looks nice and it has the best interior of the Toyota SUVs.
Go to a Toyota lot and a Subaru lot. There's a good amount of vehicles that those two put out that fit your need. I wouldn't hesitate to buy certified pre-owned from those two manufacturers.

we have had a kia telluride for about 4 months
love it so far, and definitely a lot of bang for the buck
we got the middle tier one, and not the fancy SX version thats pushing 45-50K

Mazda CX-9 or Toyota Highlander. The new highlander just got to the lots so you can get a deal on a 19.

Get a Highlander so it will hold re-sell value.

I don't think the Pilot features the typical "Honda" reliability. They do have some issues. The newer ones have a lot of complaints on the 9 speed transmission.
The Ascent looks like a great vehicle, but it also has a CVT - which most drivers absolutely hate. There's also a lot of complaints on the eyesight system being too obtrusive and annoying.

Wife has the new Chevy blazer and loves it
The Blazer is very nice if you don't need the 3rd row. The Chevrolet/General Motors 9 speed auto is much better than the one used by Honda and Acura. It also has more engine than the VW Atlas.
The GMC Acadia was a decent choice until they changed the styling this year. The new one is FUGLY. The interior is ugly.

I was told by a Hyundai sales person they are ramping up production for Palisade so in a couple of months they will more than likely be much more willing to negotiate the price.
If this is true for the Palisade then it probably also applies to the Telluride

highlander or pilot.
I have a highlander. The pilot is newer for the moment, but the new highlander will show up shortly. Either will be great.

Seems like you are getting a lot of unibody crossover examples. You mentioned SUV. A good "Body-on-Frame" SUV is a 4runner.
