Spain has a much lower mortality rate than Italy

3.3% versus 7.3%

The US is currently 1.8%

Italy is what happens with an older population and an overwhelmed healthcare system. Italy wasn't at 7% a couple weeks ago. Spain isn't there yet. Hopefully they take stronger measures sooner to limit the impact.

scruffy should pay more attention to new daily cases and cases/1m population parameters instead of making ignorant statements

I don't believe it. There's almost no way that that we've got basically no serious cases when every other country in the world has much higher rates.

You flat out refuse to believe something positive, but are more than willing to post this:

Not good. Spain is also spiraling out of control.

I wonder if they have a term for this....

Agree

OT boards of a Sports Message board should not try to be a source of accurate Pandemic information.

We are worse than Facebook now

The thread feels like a chain email from the 1990s.

What does Johns Hopkins list as recoveries?

We are....the NextDoor app. I can only imagine what that app will look like when a case pops up in the neighborhood.

That said, I do enjoy coming here, sifting through the BS, and reading what the medical professionals have to say.

So cases went up by half, but death by 15%? That is a good sign. As more and more people test positive we are going to see mortality go down more and more.

I don’t understand the panic. We all need a break from the screen.

Yes, but worldwide. The Earth is getting hit with a hurricane. That’s how I see it.

12. Recoveries is tough because we don't know the criteria across different countries and health care systems as to what constitutes a recovery.

IMO as I am no expert.

Anyone know how testing is in Texas? I find it very hard to believe they have so few cases and I haven't heard much about their testing capabilities.

Because, in honesty, it serves no purpose. It gives zero usable information and there is nothing helpful in this thread. Why should it be stickied?

Because there is still a ton of people who think this is the flu or H1N1. Again, people like you are creating a false dichotomy. It’s either the flu or it’s everyone is in a panic.

We can be honest about what it is without creating panic so that people actually work together and get through this instead of picking sides like a political battle.

They are testing thousands per day now. Drive through testing available in San Antonio and Austin. Soon Dallas.
