Could have stopped here. Flott was great at teh back end of the season after bulking a little.

I think we'll be VERY blessed at DB and not really thin at all, as long as the safeties stay healthy.

I agree on flott. I think he'll pack on a few more pounds and fit right in as a SEC DB. he already has the height being 6'2. I like him opposite stingley with Ricks working behind both learning SEC

Orgeron already said Rosenthal is the starter and looks like he’s primed for a huge season. No link, saw it on Twitter.

I would expect someone to challenge Kary Vincent for that nickel corner spot

Running Back - Chris Curry, Ty Davis-Price, John Emery, (Zack Evans?)

Left Tackle - Dare Rosenthal, Cameron Wire, Marcus Dumervil, Thomas Perry

Guard spots - Kardell Thomas, Ed Ingram, Jakori Savage, Donavaughn Campbell, Anthony Bradford, Chasen Hines

Center - Chasen Hines, Charles Turner

DE opposite Logan - Neil Farrell, Justin Thomas?, Jarrell Cherry, Nelson Jenkins, Travez Moore, Jaquelin Roy, Jacobian Guillory

OLBs - Marcel Brooks, Andre Anthony, Ray Thornton, Desmond Little, Soni Fonua, Phillip Webb

ILBs - Damone Clark, Micah Baskerville, Donte Starks, Antoine Sampah, Josh White

CB opposite Stingley - Cordale Flott, Jay Ward, Raydarious Jones, Elias Rick, Dwight McGlothern

Kick Returner - Jontre Kirklin, Kayshon Boutte, John Emery, Derek Stingley, Trey Palmer

1... we're gonna run the shite out of the ball with those backs and that OLine... Hines, Cardell and Ingram will blow many up.. and deculus aint no slouch... i expect Dare to be the other tackle, with many options

2...Defense has too many question marks...

Marcel is a great player, love him, but hes gonna have to put on serious weight to play OLB... I expect a true freshman to take the other OLB spot prob Webb.. nothing else there... Cherry is moving to DE

Damone has one locked up but im not sold on Baskerville. good size, want to see more... I think it could be Stevens thats moved there.. hes just too stiff to be NFL DB but would be a fast LB... or between Donte and Sampah for the other.. if Sampah hits teh weight room hard this spring and summer... not sure if hes an early enr...

DE looks promising.. cant put stock in Juco guys but Gaye really needs to be good.. Logan and ferrell are serviceable need two more... Gaye and Cherry??

DB's could be really good... Flott and stingley at CBs Hampton and Harris at Safety with vincient

I think the starting Offensive Line will be

LT- Rosenthal
LG- Ingram
C - Hines
RG- Thomas
RT- Deculus

Not sure about pass blocking, but they should be able to run the shite out of the ball. Some serious maulers up front.

I think the Defensive battles depend on who gets the nod at Defensive coordinator. If O decides to switch to a 4-3 as rumored, there are going to be big changes to the battles. Personally, I think they run some multiples based on the team strengths, Like 5 DBs etc

I expect Vincent to move to safety. He was playing safety on the pick play vs Oklahoma.

Good post. Thanks for starting this conversation. BJ Ojulari is missing at OLB. Both he and Webb were brought in to rush in passing situations. I am interested to see how quickly they get on the field. Huge need.

I think Hines57 is all center and won't get any time at guard next year. We have good choices at guard and are very thin at center. He looks like a heck of a guard but addressing need at center.

RB will be one of the biggest battles and fun to see how it plays out. TDP looked like a young stud in his limited pt. They gave Curry a late season shot to keep him out of the transfer portal. Had he played poor, he would be gone, but played well enough to give both he and the coaching staff confidence for more pt next year. Emory hasn't shown much but has such a high ceiling that he could end up a star. All 3 guys have starter ability. My guess is TDP has the best year, but would not be surprised if it is either of the other guys.

3rd WR spot will be a good battle and likely a shared spot. McMath got the most pt last year and is talented, but several other guys have starter talent. Palmer will see the field and could become a star. He is too good to not play. Kirklin has very good run after catch skills, and both the incoming freshman are crazy good. The freshman may have to wait their turn with all the talent ahead of them.

You didn't mention TE, but it feels like the freshman Gilbert will get every opportunity to start. If we start the year running more than passing, then one of the other more mature guys may see more pt. I think we end up with an aggressive passing attack as the year goes on, but with 4 new OL starters (that are built for run blocking) and a new QB, we might start the year as more run heavy compared to last year. Can the freshman run block better than the other guys?

On DL, I don't think Guillory sees any time at DE. He is built for the middle of the line and will do well, but has 2 studs ahead of him. He is a year out for getting much pt because of depth at his spot. Shelvin and Ika rotate and spell each other.

The ILB spot after Clark will be interesting. Baskerville seems to have the opportunity to take it but jury still out. Will be a battle with the other guys.

CB after Stingley will definitely be a battle. Flott and Ward looked good for freshman CBs. You have to be crazy good to get pt as a freshman at that spot for LSU and both look promising last year. The other guys on your list are also talented. Another battle that will be interesting to watch.

Is it safe to say Ingram and Thomas have the Guard positions locked up? Is it also safe to say this could be some of our most talented guards in a very long time?

think Ingram at one of the guards is a given. The other guard spot is interesting to me. I think Kardell is a monster who is going to be an absolute mauler for our o-line, though Hines might be a bit more developed at the moment. Hines can move to center though, so I think the position battle is actually Kardell at guard vs. Charles Turner at center, with Hines playing in the position of whoever loses that battle.

Agreed, best 5 will be on the field opening day, even if they are rotated around to leverage their abilities to collectively yield 'the best' pass pro and run blocking.

I like Baskerville, I think he’s shown he can make big plays when he’s on the field. I’d be cool with Damone Clark, jacoby Stevens, Baskerville, and Ray Thornton starting. Definitely gonna have some growing pains since it’s a complete overhaul from this past years starters, but luckily we got guys like Andre Anthony, Donte Starks, and Sampah who are all talented and could push to start as well.

Great post

I disagree with this one thing. Anyone good enough to play on the line will see time. If Guillory is developed enough, and can do the job, they can shift Shelvin to DE for some plays. He is easily quick enough.

yeah i expect Vincent and Haris at safety. Flott, stingly at cb, ricks at nickle and Stevens at olb, with an issiah simmons type role. We would have play-makers all over the place with that lineup, the only question mark in my mind is ILB.
