Coach O alluded to a defensive change in the offseason

Prior to the start of the season Coach O stated that he wanted his DL to be more aggressive and attacking vs eating up blocks. That's counter to Aranda's style which uses the LBs as the playmakers to flow to the ball and shoot gaps provided by the DL.
When O lost out on recruiting Marvin Wilson he stated he wanted to go to a team that allowed DTs to be playmakers (not just the honey chicken). We've had a very good DL haul this class, but it could explode with a new philosophy.
More than one of our current DL have tweeted excitement with a possible switch to a 4-3.
Bottom line O wants an aggressive attacking D that creates pressure and turnovers and the DL plays downhill. He wanted the RPO spread and went out and got Brady and re-made the offense. For better or worse O has a vision on what he wants and he's finding the guys he wants to put that vision in place.
It's worked so far so I'm going to trust he knows what he's doing.

This is a really good point.

I have no reason to doubt O’s decisions. Especially with the new AD behind him. With our athletes and a nice salary, O should be able to get whomever he wants. I think the bigger concern is bringing someone in who fits in with the other coaches, the players and fits the “one heart beat” environment.

This switch in DC's may have been something Orgeron and Aranda discussed prior to the season.

Aranda leaving is a good thing.

You can say youd prefer an attacking D-line or philosophy change and thats fine....
But we just lost a Top 5 DC.......so be careful what you wish for.....

Why? He is a great defensive mind. His philosophy is different, but it’s the defense that murdered Texas A&M, UGA, Oklahoma and Clemson consecutively. That wasn’t an accident.

I never thought I'd say this when he was first hired (especially after the Canada shite show), but I trust O to make the right hires....
He sees where his team is weak and looks for Coaches that can improve that spot or turn it into a strength. I have all the confidence that he'll pick someone that fits his vision and allow them to go do their job.

I still believe Alleva pushed Canada on O and the fact that he thought he could go around O to Alleva when he had problems validates that. I also think part of Alleva's reason for hiring O was he thought he could control him like Jerry Jones did Garrett.
Woodward will work with O to give him the support and resources to succeed. That includes hiring the guys he wants.

Then it won't be Richard. He's a Cover 3 Zone Carroll protege'.

I wouldn't necessarily say that. Aranda has had some masterpiece defensive schemes and performances. There is always a risk with an overly aggressive D. When the defense finally got healthy at the latter part of this season they were extremely good and he has been very good with making adjustments.
Aranda is a great defensive mind. Sometimes you need to make a change, but Aranda is still one of the best.

He was a bum whose defenses underperformed.... Should have fired him with Miles

If the next DC has any falloff, you don’t get to complain about it after all the shite you posted about Aranda.

Aranda leaving, IMO, is not a bad thing. He's a great DC but his scheme is different than what we are used to at LSU. And to be honest, he's gotten worse every year hes been here...
Total D Pass D Rushing D Scoring D
2016 LSU 5th 14th 10th 5th
2017 LSU 12th 21st 24th 14th
2018 LSU 30th 44th 38th 26th
2019 LSU 32nd 57th 24th 31st
Change is good in some cases.

When Orgeron was hired, Aranda was touted as "head coach in waiting". I suspect that once Orgeron established his creds as a long time coach at LSU, Aranda decided to move on.

You’ve been awfully quiet lately, i guess with aranda leaving you can go back to talking shite again. You are one sad individual.

Only thing I can come up with is that it’s a good thing in the sense that a school like Bama deals with this (losing coordinators and position coaches) nearly every year.
When you’re the best, everyone looking up at you wants a piece of that success in hopes of replicating it. When people are hiring your assistant coaches away, it’s because they did a good job.
His loss will definitely be felt, and he’ll be difficult to replace.
We should be able to get damn near anyone we want, and can make certain other schools give their own DCs a raise if we play it right.

I said the same and was bashed but know for a fact from reliable sources that there was friction between O and Aranda because of this. After Ole Miss O got pissed and start having more input to play calling on D.

That's already been proven false several times but people like to repeat it verbatim
