LSU vs Texas A&M, 1990
I watched that game on TigerVision. I was 9.
I told my mom I wanted to watch this game, so we drove to TCI Cable in Denham Springs Friday evening and picked up a tube shaped filter and screwed it in to the back of the cable box. I tuned in at 5pm, watched the “color bars” that TV stations would show just before they went off the air, then at 6:30, TigerVision would have a pregame show with Rene Nadeau, then kickoff happened at 7pm. I think the game ended just after 9:30.
I taped it and I rewatched Kinchen’s two big runs in that game several times.
LSU started that season 3-1, but finished 5-6.
For me, I became a fan during the 1988 Auburn game. We didn’t have cable yet, so I listened to the game with my dad in his F-150 on WJBO. It was 6-0 Auburn for what felt like an eternity, then LSU got a drive going and I remember Hawthorne saying, “LSU is knocking on the door.” Moments later, Hodson to Fuller. I thought it was so cool LSU won by a score of “7-6.” You don’t see that score often. In fact, I wouldn’t see that score again until 1997 when LSU beat Vanderbilt 7-6.

Halloween 1959 - I was a 3rd Grader living with my parents in the Chattanooga, TN area. I had caught an early cold and my mother would not hear of me going trick or treating. My consolation prize was control of the family radio. I tuned in WWL's broadcast of LSU - Ole Miss. Billy Cannon's exploits, as described by J C Politz, turned me into a die hard Tiger fan. 60 years later, my love for LSU goes on.

When I came out of the womb at Baton Rouge General Hospital, looked out the window, and saw Tiger Stadium!

Halloween 2011 about 730am sitting on the toilet. Opened up my iPhone and got an email I’d just been accepted. LSU Alabama GOTC 1 was the very next week and I was hooked.

My neighbors dad took me, my brother, and his son to my first game. LSU vs Kentucky in 96.
When the band took the field in pregame I was hooked. When the sweet old lady sitting behind me yelled mid way through the first quarter “That’s a frickin horseshite call ref!” I knew I wanted to go to school there.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Born into it. Parents and grandparents took me to games in the 70s and 80s. Took some time off late 80s early 90s to do the teenager, young 20s thing, bought season tickets in 95.

September 12, 1987. I came to LSU from another college, fairly indifferent and uninformed about LSU sports. Went to the home opener against Cal State Fullerton. My buddy said we needed to hurry so we didn’t miss the band. I was like, “The band? Who gives a shite about that?”
Well, when they marched in and hit those opening notes, I realized this was totally different from anything I’d seen before. Instantly became a fan and attended every home game that year on the way to a 10-1-1 season.
The tie was 13-13 v. Ohio State and Chris Spielman First time I attended an event that was on national TV. CBS and Brent Musberger were there, which was a BFD at that time. We went crazy during the game, but it was an odd silence walking out of the stadium. People are usually celebrating or bitching as they walk the ramps, but it was just quiet after that tie.
Good memories of the Florida game that year too. A LSU student who transferred from Florida and his brother sat in our area and talked shite all night. But when LSU kicked a FG to take the lead, they hauled arse. LOL. Good times.

I was born into this, but I’d have to say it was going to basketball games with my dad as a little kid that sealed the deal. I’d say I was 5 years old or so. No patience to sit through football games yet, but basketball was perfect.

Yup, I went to a literary rally in 1991 or so. Stayed with a family friend, hot chick. We, not w/her...a friend and I, went out to Sports for a nickel shot night. I was so drunk I laid in parking lot next to my car until I could drive. Missed the test completely. Drove home and told my mom I was going to LSU.
