There seems to be a divide on how we feel about Brennan. Some people say he will definitely be the guy and others say he is not ready and may never be. So what is more likely in your opinion:

1. Brennan cements himself in Spring ball and all the reports from "insiders" are that he has developed incredibly well and we are in good hands

2. One of Parrish, Johnson, Finley make a run for the starting job and all the reports are about how impressive one (or more) of them are

I guess I am asking for your prediction and feelings more than facts

(1)
Brennan has been getting reps (albeit with the 2s) under the system that LSU is now trying to preserve. 2020 is very much going to be about maintaining the “status quo” on offense, therefore having previous reps from last year goes a long way. Perhaps if LSU was going to totally revamp the offense then the newcomers may have a better chance but that will not be the case by any means.

Very few non-trolls think anything but number 1.

Ok what are the odds that it is number 2 then? Essentially what do you put Brennan's odds at to win the job?

Not saying this is the case, but there is a 3rd option. Just like there was in Spring 2018.

3) Coaching staff doesn’t like any of the options on the roster and seeks a grad transfer or other option that is immediately eligible.

(2) would require that Brennan has not developed much at all over the past 2 years. Betting for that bets against the offensive coaching we’ve had (along with betting against Brennan’s talent which is supposedly there). Therefore, it’s a bad bet.

Brennan wins the job is most likely.

Parish struggles to throw it 30 yards in warmups, and Johnson + Finley are true freshmen. Myles is gonna be really frickin good I think, he’s ready for this. Now will he be Burrow? No, of course not, no one is, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be great

Brennan has a better "arm talent" than Burrow he just doesn't have the polish and leadership "YET". If he can learn when to run 4-5 times per game like Burrow and have soft touch on certain passes he'll be an 2rd 3rd team all SEC. Potential to be All American 2021.

Fair point, I think if King goes somewhere prior to when we can sign him then this scenario becomes far less likely

I just have a gut feeling that there will be a point where maybe Johnson has a bunch of chatter about him being the more talented qb in camp. Nothing to go off of but I feel like there will be a point of serious doubt about Brennan.

Brennan beat out other guys and was #1 on the depth chart before Burrow transferred in. The coaches said it came down to the end before Burrow was able to separate himself just a little. Brennan now has two more years under his belt and will be a 4th year junior. He is physically gifted and was very accurate in high school, I will be very surprised if one of the younger guys overtakes him.

Brennan will be #1.
I’m most excited about Johnson, being a QB’s son. He has to have more resources available to succeed and grow. If Brennan can play good for 2 year we should have Johnson ready.
Also will have good QB’s coming in hopefully in the next few years.
I’m not discounting the other 2 QB’s, at this point we don’t know how any of those 3 will progress in the next year or 2.

He looks the part. He finally fills out the uniform, he’s got a big arm and he’s had plenty of time in the system. The only thing that concerns me is that when he’s been in the game, he doesn’t have much of a pocket presence. When things start to collapse around him, it’s like his feet are in cement buckets...though you have to believe that until you’re in that situation a lot, you don’t know what to do. Not something that can really be taught.

I completely agree with this and it’s something he will need to work on quite a bit this offseason. Sliding around in the pocket with some smoothness and being able to throw accurately on the run. Needs to trust these WRs will make the catch but that should come with the extra time they all put in together.

There are drills that they can put Brennan through to practice sliding in and around the pocket and working on his footwork in the pocket so he’s much more comfortable in practice then games.

The question on Brennan will be pocket presence and toughness ... Burrow was magical sliding around in the pocket and extending plays.

I think these doubts about Brennan are going to fuel some amazing performances. Being compared to Burrow, losing Brady, attrition of so many Jrs...His motivation and drive are going to be off the charts!

Brennan will be the starter when our Tigers take the field to open 2020. He'll be a HUGE component of offseason workouts, individual throwing/catching sessions, and in the ops bldg reinforcing his understanding of our OFF.

The big question is will a #2 emerge who is capable of stepping in if required? A mobile J.B was a HUGE part of our success this season and Brennan needs to be able to bring that same threat into every game. Move to make a throw, and run to make plays and extend drives. With this comes the chance for hits and injury. We need a #2 to clearly emerge. One who understands the OFF and can get invaluable PT early when the score/game dictates.

Honestly, Brennan is going to be fine. In the OK game with our starting OL and backup play-makers, against OKs #1s, he moved the ball effortless down field. He was in complete control of the calls and execution of plays. Yes, we'll be replacing 4/5 of the OL, but we have very capable players moving into those roles and our play-makers will be explosive next year at every position - RB, WR and TE.
