I trust this staff. They've earned it.

ETA: Obviously Jarrett chose to flip and the staff had nothing to do with it. The "I trust this staff" is directed at those who trashed our staff after we lost some "big time" recruits.

The staff wanted him. “Trust the staff” has nothing to do with it. More like they caught a break in spite of themselves if Jarrett fizzles out. Still, it’s a couple of practices compared to years of HS tape, and you’ve drawn conclusions based on the former.

I agree with the larger point I guess but no reason to continue to dwell on this kid or take cheap shots.

Boutte looks like an absolute stud though.

Jarrett is not a big loss. He’s very talented but his attitude and maturity are lacking

Glad to have Boutte and Moore

Why are you saying you trust the staff because of this? I mean, I trust them, too, but LSU didn't just decide to let him go. He bolted.

I remember saying, before we had any idea Rakim might flip, that I thought Boutte was the best of all of our WR commits. Didn't seem like anyone thought much of that comment, either way. But when you compare these two on video, Boutte is a FAR superior athlete, in terms of having speed, quickness, and jumping ability. And there was no sign, that I could see, that Rakim had better hands or was a better route runner. Pretty much all he had on Kayshon was height. But, again, Kayshon's ability to high point makes up for that.

Regardless of whatever is happening right now, it was absurd that Kayshon was rated behind Rakim.

Why can’t folks just let it go? He made his choice. We have an actual LSU signee absolutely tearing shite up right now, yet here we are still talking about some kid that signed with the Maryland turtles. It’s hilarious.

I do get what you are saying.

But our coaches would have taken that raw talent and athletic ability and turned it into productive skills.

The question for him, not us, is will Locksley's staff do the same or will he just be a freak athlete decoy.

As long as we got Boutte I'm not upset. Would've really liked to see Boutte and Jarrett, but alas. Boutte and Burton would've been good too, just not as tantalizing.

With the a) depth we have right now and b) WR crop in 2021 we'll forget all about Jarrett unless he ends up getting arrested or, statistically speaking, you watch endless hours of B1G network.

Reading this op and also reading Rivals the last 3 days, you have to think either Farrell has his yearly all Star man crush or 247 is severely hating.
Farrell had him as his too wr up to today. Boutte has had " moments".
Meanwhile 247 loves Boutte, even as far as saying he may the best player on his team, and Jarrett has struggled.

How does this happen first of all? Are the 2 sites taking turns play to play watching wrs vs dbs or is preferential memory the cause? I mean it's hard to grasp seeing that you can't just bullshite a guy dropping passes. It's all publicly reported and videos are posted to twitter.
Yet another reason to never buy in too deeply anything these recruiting sites report. Too many inconsistencies and room for judgement/favoritism.

Dropped balls are nothing that can’t be fixed with LSU level training in 1 summer he’d be catching 1 handers.

Well idk about all this but I never did think missing out on the two WRs would ever make any difference for this program or team, only the recruiting rankings. I definitely trust our staff to fill the rest of the class with quality players at positions of need.

If they don’t fill this class then they just didn’t see the right players to offer. They might see something more useful in the transfer pool or they may see that they can fill it next year with better talent while also looking at next years JUCO and possible transfer classes.

There’s more than one way to fill your roster with quality talent that will help your programs future. The classes of 2021 and 2022 should be our best two classes and set us up for lots of future success. Next years class should be almost all depth with few needing to start unless they just can’t be passed up because of their immense talent.

I hope Ed O and his staff can convince these juniors who aren’t quite ready to stay for an extra year. It makes a huge difference. It sure has made a difference in this season. If they’re actually ready then sure go for it but guys like Chassion, Stevens, Moss, Phillips, Farrell, and Logan should all stay for another season. Delpit, Jefferson, CEH and the seniors of course should go and will go. Shelvin is close but it wouldn’t hurt him to come back either. I think they need two good or great seasons before leaving. Even if all they gain is another year to mature, it’ll help them in the NFL.

An incredibly ignorant and illogical post.

The staff wanted Rakim Jarrett. He flipped.
LSU lost a big time recruit. That's a fact.

The staff was severely disappointed about the loss.

You want to justify the loss by noting that he dropped some passes in practice.

The staff would love to have signed this kid. The staff is still severely disappointed about the loss.

While I "trust the staff" to recruit well, there is nothing about what happened with Rakim Jarrett to make anyone "trust the staff." They wanted him; they lost him.

Practice sessions at a HS allstar game aren't gonna define his career.

By the time it’s all said and done, Kayshon Boutte will have a better career than Jarrett

I am not concerned about him dropping passes, or anything else at this point. There is nothing wrong with doing what is best for you, just be honest about it. I believe that he didn't want to compete with the guys that we already have, and the guys that have signed recently. He spent too much time talking negatively about LSU, and nobody at LSU said a word about him. Then he apparently called Jerry Jeudy and asked his advise on playing for his old position coach or going to LSU. Really, getting advice from a current Alabama player that would affect LSU. The fact that we have the #1 And #2 wide receivers in the country should have told him everything. He is the first recruit to say publicly that he didn't trust Coach O, and his staff. He is full of crap and was worried about not starting at LSU.
