He was the money behind fish tales on lake Bruin. I was wondering why it sold this past spring/summer.

Of all the places in BR I never even imagined having problems, sammys was at the top of the list. Used to have to fight for a table in the bar pretty much no matter what time or day you went in there.

I may have crossed your path. Worked in the kitchen on Highland in the late 90s early 00s. Thanks for the wait staff.

Yes Jones Creek had a location in the shopping center on the corner of Jones Creek and Tiger Bend (iirc).

Correct, that's the first one I remember because we lived on Shenandoah. Met Sammy through mutual friends around 2000 when he started dating the granddaughter of the Bellelos.

Zachary was the 1st location, till Jeff burned it down. Highland, Perkins and Jones Creek. I graduated and moved away after that

Highland was the first location. It was I believe the Wart Hog Saloon a biker bar and Sammy was the manager at George’s at Perkins Road overpass and left to buy that bar and opened the original Sammy’s. His red headed wife was a bartender at George’s and left with him. Tony became the manager at George’s when Sammy left and he’s still there.

I don’t remember a Sammy’s on Perkins road.

They had one under the overpass. Across from Duvics and the BetR grocery store.

Great frick Sammy's. Hate the pretentious servers, it's a f'ing mid grade restaurant, get off your unpaid high horse rent.

I thought Zachary was first...Jeff had already burnt it down by the time I started, it was before my time there

I was later told all the sordid background, and how Sammy got his start

I knew their food was complete arse when they couldn't get something so simple like a fully loaded baked potato right. That was in 2010.

Never gone back after that.

probably not? Most of my time revolved around Perkins

I went from Perkins to Highland, and back to Perkins before I left. From my time at Highland, I remember Ray-Ray in the prep kitchen every morning, Big Gay Ed behind the line, and Double J hiding his arse on the deep fryer on busy friday nights so he wouldnt have to work the floor. Chuckie and Laura had the bar, and I had to co-manage with some really weird kid named Beau.

....and then the whole sketch video poker arrangement

I know the building but do not remember it being a Sammy’s. Not sure what it is now. Was it Chelsea’s location?

It became Chelsea's eventually. Chelsea's used to be in the old shopping center across from Louies by the Varsity. It was a bar by a different name between the time of Sammy's and Chelsea's.

After The Caterie burned down, Sammys on Highland became my weekly spot.

Fried cheese, hamburger steak and the waitress staff with the thick thighs in shorts.

I remember the Old Colonels Club but I’m not remembering that building as a Sammy’s. Interesting. But I used to drink Prairie fires at George’s which is a shot of tequila with a shot of Tabasco so that may be the cause of that.
