Fight Code Question: If You Are With A Group Of People

If you are witha groups of people, mostly friends, but a few friends of friends. And one of the friend of a friend gets into it with someone at a bar, for example.. The person the friend of a friend gets into with has a few people who jumps in, do you jump in to help the friend of a friend?
As a general rule of thumb I say yes. If your friends get in volved you go at it with them. If the friend of a friend gets real drunk & starts grabbing on women & a boyfriend or husband goes after him then he is on his own, but if he accidently bumps into someone, that person pushes him, they start fighting & the other person's friends jump in, if you don't jump in then you are a bitch.

This is one of the opening lines of Cornell Woolrich's The Dark Curtain, about a man waking up in an alley with amnesia. I think it's a great metaphor for alienation.
