Washing hands before and after seeing every patient

I asked my doctor that question, and he said frequently washing hands is critically important.

They wash their hands. It's not complicated.

so......that's it? just washing hands will prevent all illnesses?

Nothing gets in the way of the spread of infection the way handwashing does. But no, it doesn't prevent all illnesses.

Your immune system goes in god mode when you're surrounded by sick people 24/7.

Plus, we just come to work when we are sick. We take OTC meds and work through it.

Their immune systems are probably incredible from being around sick people all the time

It’s this. I have a friend who is a pediatrician and he has sick kids coughing and sneezing in his face all day. First year he was sick constantly but now not at all.

Vaccinated
Washing hands
PPE (Gloves, mask, etc)

I know when people hand me scripts to fill, I use hand sanitizer immediately after or go in the back and wash my hands.

Hand washing
Building up antibodies

I find that my flight frequency +150 per year has the same impact on my immune system.

hand sanitizer all day
Believe that you also get a shot for MRSA. That may help.
Possibly have a strong immune system working around it for a job.

Building up your immunity is key. During my pediatric clinical rotation I felt like I was sick for 3 months straight but now it is extremely rare that I get sick, maybe a small cold once every couple years and I see roughly 80-100 patients a week. I think living a healthy lifestyle has a lot to do with it as well.

I don’t order tetanus unless the wound is contaminated. Tetanus is the most overused and least needed vaccine one the market.

And no, I haven’t had a tetanus vaccine since 2000. Don’t feel the need to since I have not had a wound that would necessitate one.
