i'm also in healthcare(semi retired now..but is my dayjob)
my experiences..
iirc, the last time i had the flu (or maybe a strep throat) was in high school..way before professional school.
i think is as simple as getting good rest, staying superhydrated and eating properly..
imho, what you eat is most critical for the keeping of a healthy immune system in humans..
think green leefy veggies, lean meats and fruits.
ideally a diet rich in anti-infammatories such omega 3 fats (fish), polyphenols (berries) and maybe add some vitamin c (1000+ mg has been shown to turbocharge the immune sysyem)
avoid inflammatory lectin-rich foods such corn(especially), grains and really any nightshades (peppers, potatoes, tomatoes)..which basically break you down.
oh and keep a positive attitude.

also, this might be common sense..
but especially with allergies.. if you live somewhere like houston.. simply keeping your windows up while driving helps a bunch (with allergies...but obviously keep your air filter clean)
nothing too difficult here
