No I don’t think u retire numbers u put his jersey on stadium wall of honor on east side
With 3 minutes left in the game Saturday night, I was in 414 looking around the stadium wondering where his will go. It's not a question of if, just when.
I think by the time the put Burrow up there(after Faulk, Devin White, Peterson, and many other older timers, etc) they will have moved to the West Side or another facade(or whatever the thingy is called where they put stuff like that).
My question is do they put a statue near Billy out front? A Heisman winner is very special and statue-[worthy. Not like we'll have 2 more of those in next 30 yrs.

They will wait awhile before doing that.
You can't retire too many numbers because you will always need them.
Maybe 9 can't be worn by any other QB

They will retire the "Jersey" of a star player but most numbers can still be worn.
quote:
To have a jersey retired at LSU, an athlete must have completed intercollegiate competition for LSU a minimum of five years prior to nomination. Athletes must have demonstrated truly unusual and outstanding accomplishments, exceeding and in addition to all criteria used for Hall of Fame selection. The athletic performance must be considered unique, such as winning of a Heisman Trophy or National Player of the Year award, and should be based on the total LSU career. Athletes may also be considered for making dramatic impact on the popularity of his or her sport or for significant participation in positive change in LSU Athletics. Nominees must have a unanimous vote of support from the Hall of Fame committee.
The retirement of the jerseys of Casanova, McDonald and Macklin comes under a new provision of the LSU jersey retirement bylaws that says the retirement of an athlete’s jersey in a particular sport does not preclude a current student-athlete in that sport from wearing the jersey number in that or any other sport, subject to the discretion of the head coach. This provision applies only to jerseys retired after January 1, 2007, so the numbers worn by Maravich, Pettit, O’Neal, Cannon and Bertman may never again be worn by future student-athletes in their respective sports.

Burrow will be lucky to get his jersey off for the last time before they retire his number.
He is LSU legend and is in the process of making Billy Cannon the second most legendary Tiger.

Before the Bama game I told some Mississippians that is LSU beats bama Joe would win the Heisman, LSU would lock up a playoff spot, and LSU would retire #9. They laughed. I'm just curious where they'd put his statue should we win it all....

I been looking on Gmaps and working off memory(we took a pic right by Billy before Arky).
There's plenty room to add statues where Billy is, just have to see what they do about symmetry and such.

No, but any QB that comes in the near future would be dumb to wear it.

not this year but in 20 years.

It's hard to retire numbers when's we already have a lot of duplicates. We already have 24 duplicate numbers. And one number (3) , that has 3 ppl wearing it.

If a QB comes to your school and leads you to an undefeated season, shatters records, and wins the Heisman then yeah, you retire his number.
If you don't retire Burrow's number then what would a guy have to do to get his number retired at LSU?

how long does it even take to retire a number typically?
Depends. Cannon's #20 was retired in 1960, a year after he won the Heisman. It took Stovall almost 60 years to have his retired and Casanova about 40 years.

No. Can't retire it. Still have 3 games of the season to play and need to rack up some awards as well.

Yes, and if this happens, I will gladly donate on the email requesting funds for the statue.

With a Heisman? Absolutely. No matter what happens.
