Maybe because he feels bad and wants some positive encouragement?
maybe my non couragement could be the best thing that ever happens to him. He keeps the dog, takes care of maggie better and then one day maggie saves OP's life by biting an intruder. I can literally be saving this dude's life yet i'm the a-hole here.

What is OP gaining by posting this? it sounds like his excuse is a load of shite. "i had a knee surgery 9 months ago and arguing about insurance?"... all labs want to do is retrieve a ball for you
I had ankle surgery once. Tried to put my kids on fb yard sales. No one took them, so I decided to keep them.
OP could easily keep the dog and not post about it on here. It is a weird post. Dog is lucky.

Sorry I bothered a number of you. I am old, in poor health, the knee just being a part of the health issue. I simply posted for a bit of support. Others have done that and I was much more supportive.
Again, sorry for bothering.

Man I'm sorry you are having to give away your pupper. I had to put down my dog of 13 years a month ago so I know how tough it can be

if you wouldve just gotten a cat like a smart person, it would take care of itself and you wouldnt have to do this

You're not bothering anyone. Most responsible pet owners are just tired of seeing animals swapped. I've had my two dogs for 11 years. We've lived in 4 different states and moved many times across the country.
Its respectable that you found a good home, and accidents unfortunately happen.

You're just imagining the whole I had surgery part. I promise it's not there. I've done 6 months on a shredded knee recently. It's pretty much the worst. Couldn't imagine what it would have been like taking my 2 dogs out. Luckily old age came for them before it got my knee.

Dick move bro. You're not paralyzed. Even then I wouldn't give up a dog I bonded with for a year.
Homeless fn people in wheelchairs have dogs.
You traumatized a nice lab you selfish douche and then come on the OT to brag about it and get some sort of validation for being a dick. Pathetic.
Adrian Peterson has a dog and his knee was jacked the frick up.
These wounded veterans have no legs and have dogs. You suck.

The deed is done. Her new owner lost his lab of 14 yrs and it was like his child. So he now has a new pup and the pup has gone on to a new and wonderful, adventurous life.
For those immature a-hole who are accusing me of abdicating my responsibility, frick you. Anyone can be an a-hole on line; things they would not dare say in person. You get into a situation and try to find a little support and get treated like some of you have done in this thread, let's see how you frel.
There were other medical issues in addition to the knee. It is just that knee hurts the most. Given that I live alone and have three surgeries this next year, I did this moreso out of an act of love, even though it was quite emotionally taxing. It takes a lot more courage to appreciate that she is not getting the life she deserves because you are bed bound a lot of the time. I didn't see those things coming until about a month after I brought her home.
If you are fortunate enough, some of you will grow old and perhaps mature enough to empathize.

Honestly man, I know what you did was really tough. I can’t imagine how much it hurt. For whatever it’s worth, I have a lot of respect for you.
A lot of people would selfishly keep the dog and it would have a less than high quality life. Even worse, a lot of people would just drop the dog off at a shelter or the side of the road.
You did the right thing by that dog. It will miss you but in time it will love it’s new family like it loves you.

Good for you for not just confining her inside for the rest of her life because you can't properly care for her. More dog owners should be like you.

Good for you for doing the right thing. I hope your health improves soon.

I hate this for you, but at least you are doing a good thing for the dog.

This is a very strange post. Are you looking for reassurance from TD for giving the dog up? Why post this?
Do you live all alone? I feel like a dog for someone laid up struggling with an injury is exactly what they’d need. Whatevs.

Thank you for not posting her to Craigslist as "free to a good home". You saved her from becoming a bait dog.
Do people really believe this crap?

Yep, cats all the way. My cat completely takes care of itself. I've invested in it by getting it neutured and de-clawed, but it's the perfect pet. Plays when I want to play, does it's own thing when I don't. I go home for the weekend and all i have to do is have a girl stop by and feed him once. He poops in box. He bathes himself. Cool as shite too. People that say cats don't have personality have never had their own cat. My cat waits by the door for me to get home. All the shite a dog does without the work. Fetches. Snuggles when I want, and knows when to get the frick out the room when I wanna snuggle with someone else.
