Georgia, Bama, Oregon, and Utah all have 1 loss and no top 10 wins. Minnesota is undefeated, has a top 10 win, and is ranked behind them all.

Baylor is undefeated with two top 25 wins. There are six teams ranked ahead of Baylor that have 1 or 2 losses and do not have at least two top 25 wins.

They are using the eye test more than the board would like. /thread

Aside from Penn State, Minnesota's schedule has sucked.

It's almost like the rankings don't matter since there are still 4 weeks left...

The committee is basically a mini AP poll.

If they deserve to be there in the end, they will be. Obviously no one is taking Minnesota or Baylor seriously right now, but perhaps they will if they win out.

Also, you can't expect these teams to jump from 12 and 17 respectively into the top 6.

I could see being tentative with Minnesota before the PSU game but after that game they deserve to take a jump IMO

And they said they wouldn't because that was the big complaint with the BCS. They said they'd heavily weigh Conference Champs.

Will see soon if Oregon wins the Pac-12 with one-loss how honest they were in their initial proclamations...because frankly, they're no different from the BCS-ESPN hype eye-test machine.

What are the current BCS rankings?

I guess those are half human polls though

Eh, it'll all work itself out.

When the playoff committee was formed it said it would weigh 3 things:

Strength of schedule
Conference championship
Eye test.

It’s very clear at least for now that only eye test matters and that’s a fricking sham. It’s subjective as shite.

In the end it will all work out but man the last few years and the initial rankings are just confusing as frick. It’s solely the name of your school and whoever has the top recruiting classes.

Minny gets penalized for a weak schedule, yet Georgia can lose to six loss USC at home and be considered top 4? Beating Florida and Norte Dame aren’t some monumental achievements that should make up for that.

There are two undefeated teams with top 10 wins, LSU and Minny.

Minnesota's problem is struggling with the early weak non conference games. They almost lost to Georgia Southern.

If they beat Iowa and Wisconsin and Ohio St they will be in the playoff

Rankings have always had a huge "Who do I think is just better" component.

If you think they should just sort by the # of losses, so be it. But that's a system as dumb as any.

I swear in years past it was more objective than this. But yeah, it’s operating like an AP poll this year for whatever reason, and that’s a travesty.

And South Dakota State and Fresno State.

It’s much ado about nothing. If they win, they’re in. They already made the biggest one week jump in the history of the playoff rankings.
