It’s because nobody, not even Minnesota fans, thinks they would have any chance of beating Bama or Georgia on a neutral field. The talent gap is just too great.

Bama is objectively one of the four most talented teams in the country. They will send more guys to the league than anyone not named OSU, Clemson, and LSU. Again, the eye test is how the committee is making the decisions. SOS is practically irrelevant.

Minnesota should be 6th, but Bama and Georgia should trade places.

If Minnesota wins their conference undefeated then they should get in. Period.

Surprised the Committee was smart enough to rank Georgia over Alabama, maybe if Alabama scheduled harder OOC opponents instead of Duke, it is what it is. Suck it, Gumps!

Whoever were to win between Oregon and Utah would have a better resume than Bama and will be Conference Champs to boot. If Bama gets in over that than frick everything.

Explain this...

Utah schedule is terrible. They lost to 6-4 USC and beat 6-4 Washington.

Oregon is slightly better.

They beat USC and Washington. Lost to Alabama common opponent Auburn.

Alabama on the other hand plays Auburn and LSU. Which definitely makes their schedule harder. A&M is just as good as USC.

So again explain how a team like Utah who has a schedule as easy as Clemson is deserving?

That's my point. Alabama gets a ton of credit from the committee bmfor dominating mediocre to bad teams, which is simply ridiculous.

I’d bet on Geo and Bama over Minnesota in head to head right now. Wouldn’t you?

Utah or Oregon will have a win over one another, which will be more impressive than any Alabama win.

Why does everyone freak-out over the rankings weekly? Still a lot of football left to play. Minnesota plays Ohio St. in two weeks, OU vs Baylor this weekend, and LSU vs Georgia in the SEC Championship game if both win out.

That's a terrible way to actually reward teams for their respective seasons.

Alabama was the favorite against LSU, but LSU proved it was the better team.

Auburn beat Oregon, so that's false.

Explain again?

Take into consideration neither Utah or Oregon would have beaten a currently ranked team till they eventually play each other.

I will be waiting..

How are 3 3-loss teams from the Big 12 ranked but a 2-loss team from the Big Ten is not?

A whole bunch of Tiger fans will be just fine with the “eyeball” test if LSU loses the conf championship game to UGA and LSU gets in as an 11-1 non conf champion over a one loss conf champion.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought the CFP committee is tasked for picking the best 4 teams as they see it. Not rewarding teams for their respective seasons.

It’s a complete sham! You’re telling me Bama, with no top 25 wins, is #5?! What a joke!

I think they should rank teams on their ability to control their own destiny over eye test this early in the rankings.
LSU
Ohio State
Clemson
Georgia
Minnesota
Baylor
Oregon
Utah
*some others I’m probably forgetting should all be above Bama since they need others to lose.

Georgia, Bama, Oregon, and Utah all have 1 loss and no top 10 wins. Minnesota is undefeated, has a top 10 win, and is ranked behind them all.

Baylor is undefeated with two top 25 wins. There are six teams ranked ahead of Baylor that have 1 or 2 losses and do not have at least two top 25 wins.

It's a ranking of the best teams, is it not?

Are you *actually* arguing that Minny would be favored on a neutral field against any of the teams above them? Same for Oregon. Are you actually willing to make that argument?

When, upon reflection, you hopefully realize that the answer is a strong "no", perhaps you should respectfully revisit your choice of the word "sham".

Is this like the soundbyte du jour?

I'm a Vol, so know that this isn't coming from a fan, but Bama is ranked correctly.
