I didn’t even think about that... Nice!

If the offense is more what Coach Wade is accustomed to with quicker players, I can see them surpassing 90 points in this game easily having had time to gel together on the Spain trip.
I want to address the Wade being more comfortable with this type of lineup than having multiple tall big guys. I think Wade just knows how to utilize this kind of lineup better.
HOWEVER, this doesnt mean it's not a massive potential disadvantage when we play teams with some legit bigs. Back when Wade was at VCU and Chattanooga you have to consider having legit bigs was usually not necessary against the competition they played. Not a lot of mid majors have NBA type bigs you'll find sometimes in the SEC. It's definitely to your advantage to be able to matchup with those types. I will say even with KBW last season, we got our lunch ate up by a few good bigs, most notably Daniel Gafford at Arkansas destroying us inside not once but twice last season.
It's still nice to have those options to matchup with guys like that, we just simply dont have that luxury. IT's going to be interesting to see how we DO play against teams that have that this year, for example Blackshear at Florida or Wiley at Auburn.

To make it work though, this year's LSU team has to be MUCH better on defense. Though undersized, this year's VCU team is a terrific defensive team.
Definitely agree with this. I'm not sure how great of an offensive team LA Tech is supposed to be this year; but the exhibition was certainly a good sign of a step forward on defense, especially at the perimeter.
Tech's slash line for the game was 32/27.5/60. Those fg and 3 pt numbers are pretty abysmal and had to be influenced some by the defense. Where Tech scored was on 2nd chance points. Cut their offensive rebounds in half and LSU easily holds them to around 60 or less points in the game, which is very solid.
It's tough to remember, but even last years team was much improved defensively the 2nd half of SEC play and most of latter part of season. The thing that killed them was giving up too many offensive rebounds. But their primary defense was really good.

Imo this has been the one major thing in Wade's first two years. Bad to mediocre defensive rebounding. Our on ball Defense isn't abysmal and sometimes is pretty stout but when you give putbacks and second chances its going to hurt your overall defensive numbers

I think you could say the defense was inconsistent, at best. They could play really well in spurts, but rarely played a full game of good defense. They were so good offensively and on the offensive glass that they were able to make up for it many times...until they ran in to Mich. St. who just embarrassed LSU with how easily they were able to get good shots.
Nothing will be as bad as the Jones era where neither he nor the players seemed to give any shits about playing defense, but the ONLY disappointment with Wade over the first two years is that LSU hasn't really been very good on defense...despite him stating on day one it was a point of emphasis. But you're not wrong. LSU wasn't a very good defensive rebounding team last year and it led to second chance points. That, unfortunately, happened to a significant degree vs. Tech and was the ONLY reason Tech stayed in the game

Wife surprised me by renewing our season tickets as my wedding present so looking forward to being back in the PMAC this season.
I really think Days is going to shine in his expanded role this season. He's going to need to cut down on his fouls, but I think he can average double digit points and get us 8-10 boards a game. I look for Wade to really use Days' defensive versatility and perimeter shooting to our advantage in small ball lineups.

There should be a good crowd tomorrow. Only about 1200 seats left. Now will the students show is another question.

I love to see Days come in and sink a few 3’s without missing a beat. Really looking forward to his growing this year.

Game 1 starting lineup announced by Wade
Williams
Days
Manning
Mays
Smart
Taylor probably still isnt close to 100% quite yet and giving the vets the start first over Watford. Expect Watfoes to still play about 25-30 minutes off bench, BGSU has a 6'11 center
