Airs tonight baby. Been looking forward to this for a long time.

There are three books, I'm curious if this will go past 3 seasons if it ends up being a hit. Great cast, great story (the 1st book was great). Looks like HBO went all out for this. Currently at 8.8/10 on IMDB.

Who's in?

Definitely in on this one! Read the first two books and almost done the third. Great source material to work with and should be awesome visually knowing it is being done by HBO.

Since it's HBO, maybe they'll be less likely to try to dissuade kids from Christianity in the thinly veiled guise of a young adult book. The writer is a garbage human being.

Loved the books. Read them in 2007 when I was in my early 30s. Didn't so much as finish The Golden Compass movie with Kidman.

I'm confused about these a bit.

Seems to me that this is a remake of The Golden Compass thingy from a few years back.

Never read the books or saw the movie, but the trailer looks hella interesting so I'll definitely be giving it a chance

The trilogy is one of my favorite series of all time. I havent read the new books yet, but I will get to them eventually.

I trust HBO is going to keep the tone of the series as adult as possible, and not make it a kids series like the movie.

I wonder if HBO will go cheap on the familiars like they did with GOT’s dire wolves?

Will watch. Love Ruth Wilson and I thought that little girl from Logan was The best young actor I’ve seen in a while.

Really enjoyed the pilot... don’t know what happens since I’m going in to this blind but definitely interested to see where it goes

I enjoyed the 1st episode.

Set up the world and the conflicts handily enough. They aren't skimping on the familiars and even have the non settled ones do their shape changes.
Cast melded well for me.

Wife never read the books but likes what she saw.

People who just reflexively reject the book/show based on their beliefs miss out on a very interesting and well-told story IMO and one that everyone can reflect on and perhaps grow from.

Regardless of your religious affiliation, it is factually accurate to say that religious organizations have a long, storied history of preying on people's ignorance and fears to obtain power, as well as attempting to suppress truth to protect that power.

That's not saying that God doesn't exist. That's saying that religion hasn't always been a pure force for good.

Have we discussed how bad Lin Manuel Miranda is? Excellent show otherwise but this dude overacts like he’s still on Broadway. His fight scene was laughable as well.
