Would you rather a prime Kevin Durant or a prime Kawhi Leonard?

Im having a heated discussion with a group of friends and it is 3 vs 3 on sides with 6 of us arguing. I would still say they are both in their respective prime, but just for argument sake ill say that they are both 27... (Leonard is 28 and Durant is 31)

Im in the Kawhi Leonard argument when considering his all around game. Durant is maybe the best iso wing of all time, but ive never seen a player quite like Leonard who is elite in almost every facet of the game. He really has no weaknesses and if he does, id like to hear it. (No shame on Durant’s game. I think he is a soft minded punk, but he’s a guy I want on my team).

kawhi.

It’s an undeniable fact that he can lead a team of people less talented than him to a championship.

We can’t say the same about Kevin Durant

Thats a hell of a point. And honestly, I just spat out what you just said and the other 3 had no comment and then said that the surrounding bunch for Toronto was better than OKC had and I dont buy that shite.

That's a bad argument for that team because they won due to injuries (one to KD, ironically)

However, he did do it once with SA. Also in THAT series, he absolutely D'd up LeBron in a way that nobody really ever has over a series. But he wasn't close to prime Kawhi that year.

This is tough. I think KD is still the only guy in NBA history to have a scoring title and be in the 50-40-90 club. But Kawhi is a vastly superior defender. The difference in D is likely bigger than the difference in O.

You watch the golden state v clippers game and kawhi was guarding Glenn Robinson standing in the corner. An elite defensive player can always be run into a screen and taken out of a play. There is no stopping an elite offensive player. Being elite at offense is way more valuable.

It’s really tough.

I’m probably taking Durant because he’s the better offensive player, one of the best I’ve ever seen.

Tor record was better when he rested last year than when he played. And tor gonna win 50-55 without him. Oh and they also lost green.

Call me when he spends all summer learning a one-legged fall away 3 and then starts the season shooting 20% on 14 (!) threes a game. That’s when we’ll know he’s elite on offense.

They are both about as good as one can get without being an elite playmaker. Elite playmaking is what separates another guy from the two of them.

To be fair, Durant was the best player on the warriors.

But your point remains.

Kawhi. KD is a beta that can’t lead a team to a title on his own. Kawhi is the biggest alpha in the league right now and willed the Raptors to the title. He’s what we need in this league

Yea but at least Kawhi can play D. He’s one of the best defenders in the league. Most playmakers in the league can’t play D at all
