team can be great defensively just by trying hard to be one. Offense you gotta have the elite talent.

kawhi now. Kd was improving on d pre injury.

I dont think your team defense explains sidney moncrief or bill russell.

But your point is valid in that want-to and sacrifice is a big part of defense.
As is want to a big part of rebounding.

The “two way player” crown is a consolation prize. It is not for “”who is not the best player” but who is the player who is better on D than offense.

LOL well this is quite a fascinating semantic word salad you're articulating to attempt to minimize Board Man: next to Kawhi's rather exceptional ability to shoot the ball efficiently from all angles within a conventional offensive context and his ability to create for his teammates that he's only beginning to explore at a greater level, he possesses the ability and physique to guard all 5 positions at an ELITE level and has done so basically his entire career thereby establishing HE IS the best player in the world at this moment, dude's a FREAK OF NATURE.

The issue is. He doesn’t guard the best players. We judge players on results. Not hypothetical what theh “can do”. Kawhi don t guard the opponents best players. I watch the first game of the year he was standing next to glen Robinson in the corner. He don’t guard the best player every night.

Good strawman none of what you just said relates to the universally-recognized contention that Board Man is the best player in the world

No one believes that. Except for those who disregard durability and don’t see the trutH That they beat a version of GSW who would t have even made the playoffs in that form.

I willingly acknowledge this HOWEVER the record books and the like will recognize him and the Raptors as winning the NBA title and Finals MVP for the rest of time that season so we can spin it however we want but can't spin that the Raptors won the championship and Kawhi Finals MVP objective facts

Duly noted, durability is a component of basketball and should be accounted for. However professional basketball is approached differently nowadays than it was in the preceding era and applies the notion of load management more liberally, players in this era don't play 80-82 games a season like the past just the reality so I don't consider it very wise to place a massive amount of weight on that component in the analysis.

It’s an undeniable fact that he can lead a team of people less talented than him to a championship.

Raps had tons of talent. Dubs were crippled.

Kawhi left tor and they will win the same amount of games... within three or four. -and they also lost green. And didn’t add anyone worth mentioning in FA

B, the Spurs went from a 61W team with Kawhi to a 48 win team overnight without him lol. Cmon bubba

Also here I should mention Kawhi has the same exact shooting %’s as Durant. I don’t think durants game is any more advanced than Kawhi’s on offense. At least not now. Early OKC Durant when he liked to attack more is a different story
