Don’t go to Baumhower’s. Urinal cakes taste better than the food there.

Either the strip or downtown are good for bar hopping. Each area has a handful or more standard bars bunched together.
Bars: Eagans, Gallettes, Innisfree, Avenue, Loosa Brews (craft beer and bottle shop).
Food: Southern Ale House, Chuck's Fish, DePalmas, 5 Bar, and there was a place that was either really close to or actually in an old train station. Can't remember the name but it was very good.

Any recommendations
I do. I went to Tuscaloosa in 2005. Didn't go to the game. Just tailgated and watched the game at a bar near campus. LSU took over that shithole town that night. I wound up raw-dogging some hot 19 year old (I was 19 too) Alabama blonde.
You should definitely go to that bar. I don't remember the name... Hers or the bar's!
ETA: if any of you Alabama lurkers have a 33 y/o wife and a step-kid with blue eyes that just turned 13, hmu Eskimo brother!

People so narrow minded. Gallett's, Houndstooth, Baumhower's all great. Dreamland excellent. The nachos at the Houndstooth, best ever had.

the best food you'll find in Tuscaloosa is at Bryant Denny Stadium.

University Blvd & 4th st have a ton of cool bars. On gameday it's all a hot spot. The stadium is right next to the bars. I really like Innisfree and Gallettes. Eating wise, nothing too special. I'd listen to other peoples recs on that.
If you want to see some natural beauty, do a little bit of hiking, just north of the river in the Lake Tuscaloosa/Lake Nichol area there are some neat little trails people made. Maybe a Bama poster could give you a more precise location. Nothing crazy but still nice to do.
