Anyone work with people or have family members who loads up on leftover food?

This weekend I have some relatives coming down and they are known for bringing their own containers and loading up on leftovers.. It’s kind of funny and kind of bold at the same time.

But it also seems like there is always one person like this at work. One one project every time we had any type of meeting it would be scheduled around noon so that they could get approval to order food.

I didn’t notice until someone pointed out to me, but there was this one guy.. He would hang around until everyone left and get as much as he could before it was picked up. I passed by to see what he did.. He had one paper plate filled up with another paper plate on time on the table while fixing another plate.

Not sure if he would eat it all through the day or somehow bring it home. I know it’s better than it going to waste, but I guess it’s the they way they go about it.

Me. If no one else wants it, I'll take it. How can you turn down free food? At least its not wasted.

I know people don't like to answer your threads seriously, but I had a coworker who did this and it was hilarious. We worked in a huge building (med center), and he would figure out where lunch meetings were happening and swoop in before the rooms were cleaned up. That guy had lunch and dinner on the company every single day.

Most of the time at family events, the hosts are begging people to take leftovers so they don't have a full fridge that ends up being thrown away.

I enjoy that people love my cooking so they can take it all. I make brisket and ribs on Saturdays and while my wife invites family. I don't eat left overs and I eat little of what I cook. I dont mind it.

About the only thing I ever take home is damn near a whole old school ham at Christmas. My grandparents always get a huge ham and also cook a Turkey (Big family). No one ever eats the ham nor wants it and I take that shite home and have fried ham sandwiches for lunch the next two weeks lol. But I love hams as long as its not covered in a super sweet glaze.

You should be forced to return every disability benefit you've ever received for refusing free food. You like free food when you get to choose what it is though dont you?

I’m not talking about people who just fix a plate to take home or who is aware of what is the appropriate amount to take I am talking about people who overload and go into it with the plan to do so.

Some of us don’t waste food. If the party is over and the host is offering leftovers, it’s a compliment for people to take them because that means the food was good
