The good thing about this offense and staff is that they do what WORKS. Passing works? Good, keep taking what they give you. If Florida is playing to where we can take 7-8 yard runs off of them, that's good too.

Watching the game against Utah State, you could see us trying to establish the run early and it threw the offense off completely. Why get away from what got you to where you were?

Because its Utah st and that is exactly what these types of games are for.

Like another poster said: get up by 4 scores and then run.

I'd love to see a Jacob Hester demolishing of one of the FU safeties

No we need to play like in the UT game, they can't f**king stop it. Game will be over if the Gators is down by 2 tds.

Utah State had 5 and 6 in the box on most of those runs. The offense is going to run against that look more often times than not.

Early on you say?

LSU ran the ball 13 times in the first quarter for 91 yards. That's 7 yards per carry. There isn't a coach in the country that's going to stop running given those circumstances.

If safeties are up, probably not. If safeties are back, probably. (also depends on what LBs are doing).

But just to say "blanced", "have to run in the SEC", or because "you always do"... no, you don't have to.

"Establishing the run" was NOT #11 on those clay tablets.

We FINALLY have an attacking offense. And attacking their weaknesses at that!! So attack that. If that means running the ball, fine. If they want to give us 10-12 yd routes across the middle with the S in a LBs hip pocket... fine, pass the ball.

Well, 5 games in we're 51/49 run/pass, so yeah, we better be able to run well.

You cant win in these discussions. I quit talking xs and os on this site.

There's only a handful of people who should be writing in these threads, others just make it take to long to find the posts that are based on football experience.

Everything I have heard on radio over the last week or so is that Florida's strength is their defensive front. If that's the case, then running the ball at them and getting them on their heels, perhaps or causing some fatigue will give LSU an advantage as the game progresses.

Heat should not be as much of a factor, so some type of beating on the front 7 SHOULD help the LSU offense.

Only barely enough to keep them honest on D. 100+ yards should be enough to win convincingly

We do not. We should not waste down and distance position to do that.

explain why you believe a successful running game threw off the offense (never saw this)

They ran because they only put 3 on the line and dropped into an 8 person zone...not to mention the heat

If the passing game is effective, it will open up some of the run opportunities. Can be very important in contrlling the tempo and giving the defense a little rest
