Yes, quarter them, sprinkle them with kosher salt, put them in a hot iron skillet with bacon grease and a pat of butter. Once they're about done, I drizzle some balsamic vinegar in there to get some caramelization. Top with some chopped bacon before serving.

What? They’re amazing if you cook them well.

Not to everyone. Some have a gene that basically makes it impossible to like them. Same for Tonic water and numerous other things.

IDK about a gene, but maybe some people just grew up too close to a creosote plant.

Well then learn about it. It's not their fault.

My only issue with them is restaurants usually burn them.

I am unable to do good brussel sprouts at home despite multiple attempts.

But they are great done properly at a restaurant.

Restaurants tend to just throw them into the fryer and then toss them in a vinegar type sauce. Vinegar/red pepper flakes/sugar/garlic simmered for a bit makes a good sauce, but honestly I'm lazy now and just put plain white vinegar on mine.

Yep. Most of those really good restaurant brussel sprouts are fried.

I roast them with ghee or bacon fat, salt, garlic powder and red pepper flakes once a week. So good.

I'll add some freshly fried homemade bacon bits and parmesan cheese to finish them off.

with all due respect, you could probably finish off an old leather boot with bacon bits and parm cheese and it would be good.

I'll remember that if times get hard and all that's left is old leather boots.....

When prepared properly they are a great side-dish.

You should go get some of those asparagus in the can and try them too so you know that you don’t like them

Although we roast them usually once a week, sometimes when I'm not feeling lazy we'll use this recipe with bacon, onion, garlic, balsamic

beginner Brussels sprouts

cut in half
throw in a pot with 1/2 cup water
Cover, bring up to heat and let steam for five minutes or so
uncover, cook the water out
toss with 1 tbs butter, salt and pepper

from there you can graduate to roasted/broiled/bacon/etc

I typically roast them with red pepper flakes in addition to some other seasoning. Let them cook a little longer to make them crispy and they’re delicious. Maybe the way you had them prepared wasn’t good but don’t give up on them. If prepared properly you’ll ever wonder why you never liked them.
