Listened to about half of the songs, and its awesome. So glad he is further evolving.

yes.
I'm no anime fan by any stretch but it goes together perfect.
Sturgill has done it again.

Best Clockmaker on Mars is slowly becoming my favorite track.

Sturgil puts it out and sheep fawn over it. I love Sturgil Simpson. It’s a fricking terrible album.
Listened twice and kind of agree with this, unfortunately.

sheep fawn over it? really?

meant to just quote that the album is terrible, i am sure lots of different people will like the album which is fine, i just have no desire to listen to this album again
i really only liked 'metamodern sounds in country music' tbh, so was hoping it would be something like that.

I’ve listened through now multiple times. Though a huge departure from his other stuff, this is one of the best, for lack of a better way to put it, pieces of musical art I’ve ever heard.
This is the only album I have, out of probably a couple thousand, that I feel like you almost have to listen to in succession to get peak enjoyment,
I’m pretty amazed at how amazing it is as a whole.

I get why you'd be disappointed. It would be a surprise if he did another album like metamodern, based on what he's said in interviews. It's possible of course as people change over time, and I would certainly welcome another album with a similar sound, but I can't help but enjoy where he's taken his music, album to album.

I honestly think he will make a return to that sound or similar.

This latest effort is awful.
