What can be done to improve Louisiana's depressing economic prospects?

Under JBE, Louisiana is the only state that hasn't gained jobs in the Trump economic expansion.
Louisiana is falling behind her peers in every economic measure, all while the flagship public university is stagnant
What can be done (that's politically feasible) to improve Louisiana's economic prospects?

We can vote Edwards out. That’s something we can do now.
After that we need to reform our tax code cut spending, and look at ways to inject some money into the state economy via tax cuts.

Tort reform
Phase out state income tax, phase in higher property tax.
Fire JBE.
Restructure our oil and gas state royalties for new exploration. Currently La gets 12%. Texas gets 4.5%.
Drastically overall our educational system.
Start enforcing truancy laws.
Welfare reform. Undo expanded Medicaid.
Reform Public Service commission and Insurance Rating Commission.
And that's just for starters.

We need a new Constitution

Louisiana has to make moves to diversify an econonmy that is still overly dependent on O&G. Louisiana has a huge problem that is looming with improvements in drilling technology.
It has gotten so cheap to get oil out of onshore shale plays that the off shore drilling industry will stay in deep decline for the foreseeable future. the service companies are all hurting, and teetering on the edge. Edwards certainly has not helped with that, but the economic forces are really driving that.

Without a constitutional change, there ain't much lasting change that can happen.
It would help if they stop taxing us like a Northern state, when we are surrounded by corporate tax havens like Texas and Florida.

The sooner Louisiana residents sees itself as alike than different, it won't change.
Private schools are a symptom of a sickness in the state, not a solution to the problem.

Sterilization for life long govt dime recipents, and dead beat dads of multiple children.
Got to turn off the spigot of future negatives. Don't understand how this is more controversial than abortion.

More drone strikes on Saudi oil facilities.

1) vote out JBE
2) vote in Rispone
3) get a STRONG Commission of Administration since Rispone wont know the mechanisms of government
4) get a CONSERVATIVE Legislature
5) get taxes fixed to make more business friendly
6) tort reform
7) CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION
8) revoke Medicaid expansion

Define politically feasible, because what is needed is some major infrastructure spending like widening I12 and blowing up the interchanges at 12 & 55 and probably 59 as well. Additionally, there has to be a loop in BR and another bridge going across just between Addis and Plaquemine. In NOLA we should market our empty office space to tech companies at firesale prices to get them occupied, so as to attract more.
Call a Constitutional Convention to change the tax code and how we fund things....of course the thing that really needs to be done won't be touched....it's the most sacred of sacred cows and forces tax increases on sales taxes.

Well, there’s this plant that, if sold, can generate around a quarter billion dollars in tax revenue each year.

But Jesus wouldn’t like that. LOL

Look at what Texas is doing differently in taxation, economics, transportation and education. Copy that. Profit.

Yes the 50K threshold is ridiculous

That is what is needed, but you are talking about sacred cows and while most of us like the idea on paper, the second you bring it up the local assessors will band together to fight it.....they keep their jobs by using the 75 K exemption on the first 75K ...they can assess the property lower and keep their cushy jobs

Fire JBE.
I'm OK with that .

You may want to rethink that from a revenue aspect.

We make too much out of that, it's a good idea but it's not why we don't have economic development.

Yes, Yes, Yes

I don't think it would work that easily. First, why would business suddenly move to LA over TX? Secondly, all the talent has moved to the business centers of HOU, DAL and SA...there's a talent gap that is too large to bridge. In fact LA businesses have moved to TX in order to have access to a deeper talent pool. They couldn't attract top-line talent to LA due to shite schools and a generally, overall lack of a true urbane city.

True. This is a topic that should be discussed way more. Unfortunately, JBE has proven he cannot move our economy in any positive direction much less into new business sectors. I hope he proves me wrong if re-elected.

Make sure out of state residents are paying a Louisiana tax for duck calls.
