Let’s tell the truth on this. The Mayor 100% fricked St. G by unilaterally annexing the Mall, the Casino and Siegen Lane business corridor. The businesses didn’t choose that. In fact, BRPD doesn’t even respond out to those places which is a real screwing to the businesses, the citizens and EBRSO. The Mayor gives no fricks. You should see what they incorporated in order to get to the areas. To get to Siegen, then incorporated a ditch that runs from the current city limits out to the businesses but left out all the residential areas surrounding the ditch.

If someone sat down and did a chart showing tax revenue raised by zip code and then overlayed it with tax dollars spent by zip code...
I think that single graphic would push every St. G voter to YES.
Nail meet hammer!! This is exactly what the anti-SG "taxpayers" are afraid of. Taxes might then have to come out of their own pockets!

The Advocate being against it should tell you everything you need to know. St George is EBR's last chance. If it fails, I guess I'm moving to Ascension like all the rest of you. But bad news for BR - I'll be taking my property taxes with me.

I have heard rumors of some businesses trying to get back into SG, but can confirm any of them.

I stopped using the advocate when they asked for money to view their abortion of a mobile website. They aren’t doing themselves any favors

St. George will have its own newspaper that isn’t the beholden to Baton Rouge.
The Advocate is controlled by the left now and has been for a while. Every day there's nothing but anti-Trump crap on the editorial page and each "journalist" tries to outdo the other with lies about him.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that their mobile app is one of the worst I've ever seen. EVERY SINGLE TIME I'd try to read an article, I'd have to swipe right to go to the other article, then swipe back left to go to the article I wanted to read. That would then fully display the article most of the time, but often I'd have to do it 2-3 times. The problem then, was that they started putting so much advertising that I had to watch a 10 second video every time I viewed an article which became 2-3 times because of the problem above. I tried to reach out to their support team to discuss the issue and was treated rudely and they didn't care at all or offer any suggestions.
I now read the Advocate to read the DWI's. Nothing else. I only do that because it's worth the hassle to see if I know anyone. None of their other 'reporting' garbage is worth the hassle.
They're app is absolute worthless garbage and they don't care about the readers experience one single bit. frick the Advocate.

BRAC is probably against St George as they will lose money as the city parish will have to cut pork spending or raise taxes.
We have our own fire district which we pay taxes for. We also receive no services from the constable, BRPD, or BRFD. These are City of BR services and this area is unincorporated not inside the city. If BR used tax dollars correctly they should not have to make cuts as they should be funded by The City of BR not the parish.
Unincorporated areas pay for the DA, district court, and other parish services. If St George becomes a city this means like the City of Baker, City of Zachary, City of Central, and City of BR they will not pay for these services. Unincorporated areas smaller so we will all have to pay our fair share which is how it should be. The real people leaching on the tax payers are the city’s in the parish receiving parish services while not paying for them.
Then eventually the taxes from the chemical plants in unincorporated areas or industrial parks will eventually have to be shared with St george like it is with the other cities in this parish.
If St George becomes a city I think we will soon see which areas leach off the parish tax dollars.

Stephanie Brown or whatever her last name is is on the level of Rachel Madow or Don Lemon but without the resume. Crap. Absolute crap. Her opinion is nothing but a biased shite show tantrum.

Newspapers being liberal rags is such a cliche. You think they'd learn no one cares what they think.

I think it’s telling that in all the big neighborhoods in the area, you may only see one or two anti St. George signs. If people were truly against it you’d see way more.
I live in one of the bigger neighborhoods. Honestly, only a small fraction have ever had any yard sign of any type. I think most are the silent majority type and simply want their yard to look nice and that the signs are unappealing - self included.
Unfortunately, of the signs I do see the TBR signs do outnumber the STG signs.

The creation of these little affluent municipalities really is a cancer. They think they're being fair by protecting their own tax base from the metropolis as a whole, but in reality their crappy little town would still be wilderness without the metropolis.
And what do they do with all their precious cash? They build "good schools"- i.e. Columbine-style warehouses that breed disaffected incels.
This kind of crap should not be allowed to be voted on.

Bravo Advocate.
St George = I want the advantages of living in a city, but somebody else should pay for it.

You have that reversed lol. The people of St George are footing the bill for the city and want to foot the bill for themselves.
