The Trump Administration is revoking California’s Federal Waiver on emissions in order to produce far less expensive cars for the consumer, while at the same time making the cars substantially SAFER. This will lead to more production because of this pricing and safety......

.... advantage, and also due to the fact that older, highly polluting cars, will be replaced by new, extremely environmentally friendly cars. There will be very little difference in emissions between the California Standard and the new U.S. Standard, but the cars will be....

....far safer and much less expensive. Many more cars will be produced under the new and uniform standard, meaning significantly more JOBS, JOBS, JOBS! Automakers should seize this opportunity because without this alternative to California, you will be out of business.

Good. New cars are getting so overloaded with new tech that it is not just hitting the consumer at the dealership. Insurance rates have no other direction to go but up, as it gets more and more expensive to fix these newer vehicles.
Trump needs to get other states to stand up to the "the way Cali goes the rest of the country goes" mindset. To many crazies running the show out there, that now it's gone way to far...and to their heads.
Also, Trump needs to bring Gavin Newsom, down a few pegs, as he is easily top3, perhaps #1, for the Dems in 2024. If Trump wants this all to be his legacy he needs to clear the path for the 2024 Repubs. Including Cruz, as he was the only Repub that survived Trump's 2016 primary run.

Great point.
Also, the price of new cars has increased demand for used car, especially newer model used cars, which has increased their price, which in turn keeps people in older, less efficient models longer.
The announcement touches on this but it’s worth repeating. Every potential car buyer in every category gets affected by those standards, with the result that it hurts the poor the most and it hurts, not helps, the environment.

California is a US independent territory that is in state of emergency. Those idiots don't deserve state rights.

So one State is supposed to have the right to impact the other 49?

They also have a different fuel standard, forcing refineries to make a grade specifically for them, these idiots in cali who vote for these clowns dont realize that, and one of the highest gasoline tax, along with these vehicle regs are costing them an arm and a leg.
Trump is getting his pound of flesh, here is another govt teat that went away in August....

Despite 10-year-low unemployment, California took advantage of loopholes in federal regulation to keep more than 800,000 federal welfare recipients from having to work.
This conclusion is based on the response of the U.S. Department of Agriculture to an application to waive SNAP's work requirements for 55 of California's 58 counties, issued to the state in July and recently obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.
California's waiver, which will last until August of 2019, exempts more than 800,000 able-bodied, childless Californians from having to work while on SNAP. This in spite of the fact that California's unemployment rate—4.2 percent—is at its lowest level in at least 10 years.

If republicans are ok with conceding that they have no interest in ever winning California in any national election, it doesn’t matter.
