So I am curious, what companies left NewO for Houston and when? Also were they the acutal US headquarters for those companies or just large offices?

Shell, the Nola Mobile building doesn’t house Mobile. Those two for starters.

Typically Louisiana politicians tried to fleece big oil for more cash and they said “frick y’all” and went to Houston. Now Louisiana is largely destitute

I remember, growing up in the 80’s, the Times-Picayune always had the price of Louisiana Sweet Crude in the front page.

Interesting topic. Wish you would have started it tomorrow mid morning instead of tonight.

After the 80’s oil crunch for the most part. The last few hangers on started packing up after the 2010 moratorium

Well actually it is one whitney square now, not shell. They sold the building, skeleton crew there now.

The actual ones...not code.
They kept raising the cost of doing business in the city (both officially and under the table) to the point they said frick it and bailed to Houston.

Okay, I know all about why they left. I am curious as to when they did and who, particularly the majors. And was it their headquarters?

90's Exxon was the 1st major to leave.
Mergers and the merged companies left.
GOM is going to experience a boom in the 2020's
Of course most of the Oil is off the coast of LA. Most of the high paying jobs in Houston.
