Not very loud, I was in lower level at 10 yard line LSU bench. Was pretty lame, but better than Bama since they did yell some and not just wave their Pom poms. They had a decibel meter on scoreboard for what it’s worth and highest I saw was about 103 and wasn’t anything near a rocking stadium at LSU, auburn, Florida, Georgia, etc. but then again their south stadium is wide open so who knows what it could be.

Sat Southwest corner lower bowl. I agree with above - UF, Auburn def louder, but fans around the stadium much louder than our surrounding UT fans. We had UT fans giving us the eye saying "hold them defense". Then the obligatory UT fan saying "suck my dick" to the tune of "LSU" on first down. Guys was like 60 - smh.
As seen on TV multiple LSU guys came out shirtless to warm-up. Didn't know at the time, but must have been in protest to how hot that locker room was. They ran right through UT warm-ups, there was a small scuffle, and yes loved seeing them drink their water.
They literally had a carnival outside the stadium. Like carnie girls swinging on shite and everything. Kind of weird, kind of cool. Not sure how I felt about it. Cool Texas experience I guess.
Anyways, props to UT student section for really showing up and very loud on east side. They sat in sun for hours before kickoff. For the most part they were right behind the LSU bench - hence the nice wave Burrow gave at the end.
As mentioned above that cannon is LOUD and props to LSU for not muffing punts or kickoffs. I couldn't imagine how loud that was for them down there. Savvy student athlete prob has a lawsuit in the making for hearing loss.
UT fan next to me was hitting on BMI richter scale. Left my seat to go back down to buy a $10 seat back and placed in middle of my seat to keep him honest. Great investment.
His family member to his right, LSU fan, was on the other side and literally passed out from his body heat. Big boy was no where to be found and I was left helping this sweet lady who didn't drink, just passed out from 100% Texas humidity and habitus.
Overall, great experience - fans overall were nice. Tailgating nowhere near LSU, and not even close. Campus was ok, not impressed by any means. Stadium was very pretty, very much Texas with displaying their talent of cheap labor with brick veneer. City was fun, homeless everywhere, literally stepped over them walking from 6th street. Hippies everywhere, but that didn't bother me, but their body odor on the plane ride in did.
Absolutely loved seeing the band come out the stadium full pride playing their hearts out as LSPD pushed UT fans out of the way. Those kids also deserve praise for being up there in that hot upper east side playing hard until the end - lots of pride!

The UT people I sat around at the game all said that that was loudest their stadium has ever been!

quote:they have that in every stadium. The old farts on the west sideline in Tiger Stadium are the worst
I'll just say the fans around me were not a contributing factor. their big donor seats had plenty of "wtf sit down" folk who tried to butt heads, but I paid way too much for that seat. so i politely told them to sttdb

Personal experience..
It was louder than Bama, Georgia, TAMU
Not quite LSU, Florida, Auburn or Washington
I was actually surprised how loud it was. And they were on their feet the whole game.

I was above the student section and it got very loud, especially with that damn cannon, but I will also say that every time it got loud, Joe Burrow and that amazing offense would respectfully shut it down! Our O-line was amazingly disciplined and only had one false start. They really tried to get us rattled, but to no avail. We shut it all down, even when they would try to use the loud speakers until a second before we snapped the ball. Great job Joe and the O-Line!!

that frickin canon gets me everytime.
Try sitting by the Pirate ship in Raymond James in Tampa Bay. Sat there one year and the Bucs were kicking the Saints arse (Last game of year and JV played for Saints) and it felt like Vietnam!!!

My friend who is a long standing season ticket holder said it was the most juiced up crowd in 20 years at DKR. It was very loud and they stood up the entire game. The loudest was on 3-17 but after Jefferson caught the pass and bolted down the sideline it was like they turned off the rock concert speakers all at once.

I'd say it was middle of the pack in the SEC. Bama is the best comparison, but the atmosphere never felt crazy or unhinged to me like I've experienced in other stadiums. Bama's atmosphere as a whole feels more intense to me, even though the decibels were similar.
DKR doesn't hold a candle to Tiger Stadium, the Swamp or Jordan Hare though.

I just loved that the LOUDEST moment of that entire game was LSU’s BIGGEST play!!!!
Despite what some may say, it was absolutely a great CFB atmosphere.., may not be the best, but it was certainly on par or close to it with any SEC venue for that particular game.

Pretty loud, combination of crowd and pipe-in. A few UT folks I talked to said it felt like their biggest home game in years.
Posted on 9/12/19 at 8:47 am to DustyDinkleman
Crowd was louder than expected, but not big SEC atmosphere loud levels.
Also, we could not hear the national anthem by their band at all in section 124.

I was surprised at how loud it got without the end zone. That being said, I think I hollered more on Texas 3rd downs than most of the UT fans did for LSU 3rd downs. They were very unhappy when I said, “Don’t worry, I haven’t seen LSU run this offense ever before either.”

Some folks said the Tech game was snooze so maybe this game got their attention, I thought is was OK loud but the pipped in noise and cartoons sounds sucked. I never heard a band and we were lower North end zone west side??

It was loud but definitely not louder than Bama in 2011, granted I was on the sun in Austin and in the lower bowl for Bama
Posted on 9/12/19 at 9:01 am to DustyDinkleman
I honestly didn’t think it was that loud. Definitely not SEC stadium loud.
Posted on 9/12/19 at 9:07 am to DustyDinkleman
I would put it in the "average" loudness category compared to SEC schools. Sort of like Miss St without the cowbells.
Ronnie Rantz and Jacob Hester were talking about it on air on Monday and I thought the same. The grade of DKR is very bad and an end zone is open. So the fans are setback pretty far from the field and the sound escapes. I had similar seats at DKR as I do in Tiger Stadium. It was visually easy to see that LSU's seats wrap the field much closer than most stadiums and the end zones hold the sound in.

Yeah I agree with this. Mingo almost got his arse whooped by a 60 year old man with about 2 minutes left in the game for standing up

The stands are actually much closer to the field now than they used to be. There was a track around the field for years. The south end expansion will help hold in a lot more sound, although it won't be completely enclosed.
