Pretty much goes for everything political.

We love when our party rules with an iron fist and pushes policy through. We screech in anger when the other party does the same.

Limit the power of the executive office and administration so no unilateral policy can be enacted.

The Food and Drug Administration is currently finalizing its guidance to remove all non-tobacco flavors of e-cigarettes, including mint and menthol, from the market within 30 days.

By their reasoning shouldn't they do the same for regular tobacco (menthol cigs, swisher sweets, wintergreen dip etc)?

I think it's BS to ban vaping. If people are aware of the risk and still choose to engage in the behavior and it doesn't hurt anyone but themselves, why does it matter? Let them kill themselves. We don't need people who choose to vape to live longer anyway

Sorry, we thought this was America.

There are many things (food products, additives, etc) throughout the years that have been banned due to being found harmful. It is a role of government.
Difference is flavored e-cigs have not been found harmful to anything other than big tobacco's bottom line. If this was really about protecting people (the children!), then the FDA would first have to educate itself on what is really harmful (hint: it's the black market thc carts), then consider bans and educate the people. Regulate, don't ban. Also, where the frick are the parents, and why do we expect government to do the parenting?
quote:

Comparing it to a gun (you can't protect yourself with an ecig) is outright ignorant and lacks critical thinking
Why is "can I protect myself with it" the test? I can protect myself and my property with land mines around the yard, but I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed to do that.

There are no hard and fast rules that determine what gets banned, but in a free country we should always lean toward not banning something until it is well-proven that a ban is a net-positive. Aside from that, regulate.

I also bet you are all the same people who would be in favor of litigation agsinst these companies for causing lung disease.
The critical factor is what they knowingly do.

Something needs to be done to crack down on kids using these things, but outright banning them is so incredibly shortsighted. Seems like once a month a kid at one of our schools is busted with a Juul. Bunch of my daughter's friends just got in trouble for posting a TikTok(whatever the hell that is) with them holding Juuls.

They’ll still be using them
Because JUULs aren’t being banned

You're right, let me rephrase. I think its BS to ban behaviors that only affect the individual engaging in them. I also think if you choose to engage in these behaviors your health insurance should cost more, but that's another argument entirely.

Kids will be kids. We don’t need big brother to step in and save us each time.

I really don’t think this has anything to do with health

Big tobacco companies are mad a competitor has come in and taken from their market share

People are reaching for Mango/berry/mint Juuls not Marlboro lights

How is he justifying taking menthol off of the market? A lot of people vape to keep from smoking.

If anything the nation wide attention vaping is receiving right now will open the eyes of parents, and really anyone who currently vapes thinking it's safe.

I don't necessarily agree with banning flavors, but we need to stigmatize vaping much like smoking was. Kids inhale this stuff thinking it's completely safe.

Ding ding ding Hint, it’s tobacco lobby. They are pissed at losing the last bit of market they have. Ever wonder why Juul isn’t called e-Camel or e-Marborlo? Tobacco companies missed the boat on vaping and they aren’t happy

Eh, not really. MO (Altria) owns 35% of Juul. Same way that beer conglomerates and tobacco companies own a hefty share of the market on legal marijuana.

Companies just buy out the competition these days and get paid to do so.

Good, parents need to parent, not rely on government to pad all the walls.

I don't think anyone who vapes thinks it's the most healthy thing to do, but the people going to the hospital and/or dying are vaping black market thc cartridges containing vitamin E. This proposed ban will only push more people to black market stuff if they can't get what they want legally.
