They whine about the cost of living in an expensive borough and expect their 50k salary to adjust to them. Anyone else feel this way too?

After trying to read this post, I'm going to guess a liberal arts degree probably wasn't in the cards for you.

You should look into stoicism.

I don't know anyone who fits that description, so I'd suggest you stop surrounding yourself with millenials who cry about living in LA or NY if that annoy you. It works for me.

When you consider Chicken makes a living off people bitching about living in LA I don't think we should worry about other people complaining about where they live.

I don't feel sorry for anyone who whines about the cost of living in any city. . There are less expensive alternatives

Yes they should all move to more affordable places like rural Arkansas or Mississippi. Lots of great jobs for people in their early 20s who have never been outside of the big city.

What a weird melt. I live in NYC and the people that bitch the most about cost of living are old people that have lived here forever.

Sounds like you’ve got it figured out. Where do you live?

We recently had this discussion with my nephew. He graduated from Arizona State with a logistics degree. He wanted to go to Seattle or California. The solution was easy: math.

Once you sat down and did a budget, there’s no way a college kid can make it on their own there. You’d either have to be married or have a bunch of roommates just to get by.

I have lots of friends that live in LA, SD, NYC. I’ve never heard them complain and none of them are rich either.

What a strange thread.

How often do you hear these people crying about living in NYC on a $50k salary?

I don't try to keep up with COL there but my oldest daughter is a "millenial"... I've never asked what she makes but I do know her 1250 sq' 2br Tribeca neighborhood condo cost her $4.3 million.

How and why does one end up in NYC then cry about the COL to begin with?
